![]() Lemon Balm Ice Tea is a cool refreshing drink during the hot summer months. You can enjoy this relaxing tea a couple of different ways, the first being our favorite, steeping fresh herbs in hot water for 20-30 minutes creating an infusion. Let it cool and serve over ice. Sip and enjoy.
Or, add a few bruised lemon balm leaves to your glass of ice tea enjoying a subtle hint of lemon flavor in your tea. Lemon balm is very easy to grow and propagate. It deserves a place in every herb garden or in a pot on a sunny porch.

I think we could all stand to be reminded of these points, whether your a seasoned wife or a newlywed. A Wise Woman Builds Her HouseA wise woman doesn’t take anything for granted. She is thankful to be loved and seeks to make herself more lovely. A wise woman doesn’t allow herself to be a liability but strives to be an asset to the marriage bond. She looks for ways to make, save, and use money wisely. Her husband knows he is a richer man because she is his wife. A wise woman seeks to be a part of her husband’s life. His interest becomes her interest. She looks for ways to help him in every endeavor in which he is involved. When he needs a helping hand, it is her hand that is there first. A wise woman knows that his peace of mind (and sometimes, wise understanding) is something she can give or take away by her observations and conversation concerning circumstances or people. She limits her conversation to the positive. A wise woman sets a joyful mood in the household. She uses laughter, music and happy times to stir the children to a positive, joyful frame of mind. She knows this light-heartedness helps take stress off her husband. A wise woman gauges her husband’s needs. She seeks to fulfill his desires before even he is aware of them. She never leaves him daydreaming outside the home. She supplies his every desire. A wise woman understands that her husband’s need to be honored is not based on his performance but on his position. She learns quickly to defer with enthusiasm to his ideas or plans. She looks for ways to reverence him. She knows this is God’s will for her life. A wise woman is not pitiful, puny, or whinny. She seeks to be confident, capable and thankful. A wise woman does not dream of what “could have been.” She sees clearly that she is not God’s gift to men; thus she is blessed in her present circumstances. She learns to be content. A wise woman never expects anyone to serve her; therefore she is never disappointed. She is ready to help—a giver. By her example her children learn to serve cheerfully and energetically. A wise woman doesn’t attempt to instruct her husband through feigned questions. Her questions are sincere inquiries concerning his will. A wise woman is always learning. She is open to change. She is ready to hear. She wants to know. She doesn’t cloud her mind with the foolish folly of entertainment. She uses her time wisely. Original article can be found here.• 2 Comments

Sometimes posting one catch up post is simpler and I'm all about the ease of things right now. So where have I been? ![]() Spending just about everyday lakeside. Swimming, playing with the kids, doing cannonballs off the dock, seeing who can hold their breath and swim the furthest underwater, eating watermelon, spitting seeds, talking to the neighbors, catching fish, learning to fly fish, catching baby turtles, watching tadpoles, reading, and soaking in that vitamin D the Lord provides via the sun.
Studying non stop. I've been diligently picking away at my herbal studies, I'm on lesson 6 The Digestive System and am trying to get a few lessons under my belt before we start school back in August. I'm working on doing a proving now, I have to taste and write about my experience with 25 herbs. Which I'm enjoying. I'm using Christopher Hobbs Foundations of Herbalism Course. Kitchen Creations I have jars of oils and tinctures lining my counter tops. I've been experimenting with salves, lotions, balms and tinctures and am going to try creating instant herbal teas very soon. Scuba Dive Training before you get any ideas I'm not this brave. BUT my husband is. In fact, more so, because it's rescue diving. Can you imagine diving in mirky dark water? yuck. Scares me just thinking about it. Not my brave superman hubby. He wants to do rescue/recovery dives with the fire dept. and is preparing for the pre-test. He has to swim 400 yards non stop, swim 50 feet underwater, (in case while rescue diving you come up in an oil slick you can swim under it and get out.) and tread for 15 minutes. WHEW! The extra pounds we packed on this winter are slipping right off. Creating an Herbal Business has been taking up my time too. I've been building a website to sell my salves, lotions and teas. A friend and I made soap and we would like to sell that too, just as soon as we perfect the recipe. The business is called Old Country Herbs but the site isn't up and running yet so I won't link it. Japanese Beetles are back with a vengeance. Just today we picked 3 cup fulls. Anyone have any suggestions? Any at all?? Help. Homebirth my sweet, gentle, kind friend made labor look so easy. I couldn't be more proud of how she handled herself, the excruciating pain, the fast delivery, you want more details don't you ladies??? Ok here it is and if I can get her to say it's ok maybe a picture of the cutest little ______ you've ever laid eyes on very soon. leave her a comment maybe that will sway her!! Tell her to start a blog too. Oh, the point. So at 3am her husband called and said, "You need to get over here." I was up and dressing as fast as I could go, with one eye open of course, it was 3am. Anyway, I sped over, and there she was holding fast to her husbands hand breathing and coming out of a contraction. They were coming faster at this point, I believe 3 minutes apart, midwife was on her way, and there she was breathing, handling it all in stride, amazing, simply amazing. After 1 1/2 hours of labor at 4:12am she pushed maybe twice and the most precious baby boy you ever laid your eyes on twisted and turned it's way out. Momma and Daddy were THRILLED! They have truly been blessed. Picture soon...maybe...no pressure....none...sure would make reading more thrilling...everyone likes looking at babies....no pressure though....none. Birthdays too, I can't forget those, we have 2 this month. Want to hear something neat? My hubby and my middle sons birthdays are in June, My birthday, my daughter and my other son are in October! Our whole family has birthdays in just 2 months during the year. No, it wasn't planned. ![]() Books For Sale I've been cleaning out my library shelves, trying to simplify. I have lots of books to sell like quilting, cooking, crafts, herbal remedies, homeschooling, Bible, the list goes on and on. I will post them here in the next couple of days. Be sure to check back I need to move these. • 2 Comments

Japanese Beetles, if you've dealt with these you know just how irritating these little devils can be. We put Milky Spore down in our yard to help combat these irritating beetles at the egg/grub/larvae stage. But what do you do about the adults who fly around, eating your roses, petunias, and now my comfrey! • 3 Comments
