Ohhh your chickies are sooo beautiful. I have a Buff Orphington rooster also, they are such gorgeous birds. Is the black one in several pics a silky? I would love to get some of those one day.
I would love to see your coop also.

Thank you!

Question

I have more questions (believe it or not, we've had chickens for over 2 years but I still like to ask other chicken people...): did y'all build your own coops that you house your roosters in? and since you're in Colorado - do you had to do anything special for your rooster's comb in the winter?

thanks ~

Hi

We were lucky in the fact that this house came with the chicken coop. The rooster cage was built by someone else, my DH bartered work for it. (he's a mechanic) We haven't had any trouble in the winter with the chickens yet. Except for frozen water. I think having so many chickens really helps them, because they can huddle together for warmth. The coop really stays quite comfortable. In the winter we'll put the roosters in the coop in large dog crates so they'll stay warm too.
