The Zoo

Finally summer, so we made ice cream and popsicles

I'm sorry I haven't posted much. Baby keeps me really busy.

The last few days have been really warm.  I don't want to complain yet, because it's only going to get hotter.

We decided to make some ice cream and popsicles today.  We made raspberry sherbet, mint chocolate chip ice cream and lemon-raspberry popsicles.  I don't know where all my Tupperware popsicle molds went to. We found 1-1/2 sets of them.  We'll have to search for the rest of them because we make tons of popsicles during the summer and this won't do.  I know I have at least 4 sets.

Yesterday I was sitting here and I could smell a fire burning. Everyone went outside to see where the fire was.  The smoke wasn't noticeable at first.  I guess my bionic mommy nose picked up the scent early. I couldn't tell the fire's exact location so I got in the van and drove around the area a bit.  I headed west on the highway (we are right off a rural highway) about, 10 miles down the road we were stopped by the police and told to turn around.  They had the highway blocked off because of the fire. The fire was contained last night after burning about 350 acres of grassland.
I really wish I had a scanner so I could just listen in on FD and PD reports when something like this happens.  We have been learning about ham radios but we haven't been able to buy one yet. We have a CB but there was no one talking about the fire.

We haven't gotten the garden planted yet, don't know if we will be able to.  I haven't come up with the money for the fencing yet.  It would be a waste of money to plant the seeds we have without protecting them from the rabbits. We have fence posts but no fencing. There are baby bunnies hopping all over the place.  Seems every rabbit on our property had a new litter within the last month.  They babies are cute, but will not help me much with the garden.
Well, that's enough for now, I'll try to post again soon.
