I think I overdid it a bit but we got a lot done. It was snowing Saturday, but the snow was gone quickly and Sunday brought 75+ degree weather. Mom came over and helped finish clearing the boxes from the dining room. Good thing she was here. My pregnant nose noticed an awful smell yesterday, and we determined it was coming from a bag of stuff in the dining room. (for those who don't know, we're still not unpacked from the move) I asked mom to take the bag outside and dump it and she found a dead mouse in the bag. YUK!!!! I would have barfed if I'd found or seen it... mom cleaned up the mess and I thanked her profusely. We'll try to take another load to the storage unit today while we are out getting chick feed. I want the house totally unpacked and everything to the storage in the next few days so I can call the exterminator for the mice...another thing I need to scrape up money for. UGH! We moved the brooders into the dining room. (going to wait till the chicks can go to the coop before we set up the dining room table) While were out today we will also stop and get more containers to split the chicks up again... they are getting too big for the brooders. I'm starting to worry that we will never get the garden in this year. I have all my seeds and onion sets, but I haven't figured out how were going to get the plot cleared. I need to come up with money for the fencing to keep the rabbits out too. Some days I wish I had a magic wand. I also had high hopes of getting strawberries planted, but with our massive rabbit population I still need to come up with a way to plant the, and keep them safe. Planting time here it right when I'm due, so I have to rely on everyone else to do the work. Speaking of relying on others... I'm really proud of my son. This weekend he fixed the toilet and installed the under-the-sink water filter. We had a great discussion on how this was a wonderful homeschool project. Schools teach reading comprehension and what better way to know if someone can comprehend what they read, than to see if they can follow directions on installation instruction sheet. { Last Page } { Page 57 of 84 } { Next Page } |
