A Weekend with no Heat or Hot Water/ Sea Salt/ Nourishing Traditions

Well we've had an interesting weekend here at our homestead, our furnace and water heater are gas and this weekend we have been without gas...ergo...without hot water or heat.  Of course this is right up my alley since I love to make do but it was an interesting test for DH, he likes to have his nice hot shower every morning before work but he had to make do this weekend...and he chose to get cold showers, and it is actually a bit cold in our area so that's a cold shower in a cold house!  He is such a creature of habit that he could not fathom having a 'sponge bath' as my dear little mama calls them, so he suffered through the cold water...I won't say he liked it but he made do.
Well tomorrow the 'fun' will be over because they will be coming out to make the adjustments and light the pilot lights, of course it's just at the time when it will be getting warmer..just figures doesn't it?  I really haven't minded no heat or hot water too much but I will say I'd rather have my say as to whether I have it or not...not by some gas problem that I have no control over!
On a different issue, we've been using kosher salt since we ran out of sea salt a while back and tonight when we go to the grocery we're going to be stocking back up on sea salt...kosher salt seems to do strange things to the body I think and I definitely have learned that sea salt is the best for us through this time...the kosher salt has got to go, I actually never used it before we started watching them cook on the food network and it just seemed like the right thing to do...might taste good but it is certainly not healthy for our bodies and I've found it to be addictive also, I tend to put more on and that's just led to more issues...ugh.  With the sea salt I use the correct amount and you can't really taste it as well so you just get accustomed to not having that extra salty flavor...which of course lets us taste the food we're eating.
Well, I'm off to make the grocery list with Dearie, I bought the Nourishing Traditions type e-book over at Simply Susan's blog and I'm getting some even better ideas from that...excellent resource!  I've not read my whole Nourishing Traditions so I'm a bit slow but sure in getting to be a full NT cook.
