We are really enjoying Fall around our little homestead!  Yesterday, Hunter and Jarrett, along with my 2- daycare 2 year olds walked out to the apple tree.  It was so much fun to shake the branches and then hurry in to gather the apples.  The kids reacted as if they had just broken  a pinata! (much healthier than candy, huh?)  So today Hunter and I will prepare an apple dessert during the little ones naptime.

Hunter is studying trees and leaves in school right now, so the apples just seemed to fit.  We also have activities centered around one of my favorite stories The Giving Tree.  Hunter continues to excell in school.  His reading skills are moving right along thanks to a wonderful program that we started using:  www.tampareads.com .  I would highly recommend it!  We just finished reading Charlotte's Web and we watched the movie yesterday.  He has chosen the Chronicles of Narnia to read next.  I'm not sure if it will be next or not, because we don't have it.  That might make a great Christmas gift though!

Today we are going to DJ's parents after school so the older kids can do some lawn work for them.  They are learning how to barter for items they could not otherwise afford.  It has been an excellent life lesson.  Brandon now has a mountain bike that he really wanted and Emily got to go to the Festival a second day and have an all day ride bracelet.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight, but DJ has requested something very light.  He is trying to get in tip top shape before his PT test.  The three months of little activity after he hurt his ankle is really catching up with him.  I should work with him on this.  I could stand to lose a few pounds myself!
