Today is the first day back to school for Brandon and Emily. I am happy to be sending them to the same school finally!! 6th and 8th grade! Where has the time gone. I still remember walking each of them to the first day of Kindergarten! They were both up early this morning, wearing new clothes, beds made and waiting for the bus 15 minutes before it arrived. We will see how long THIS lasts!!??!
Since Brandon and Emily were gone today we made this Hunter's first day of homeschooling first grade! Brandon shared with me this morning that Hunter told him last night that he was "nervous about school because he had to learn hard math this year" Poor kid doesn't realize that he has been learning all summer! Isn't it great when learning can be fun and they don't even know that they are making progress without trying?? This will be Hunter's first year of having "real textbooks". We won't be using them everyday, but it will be an additional resource for us. Our first morning went well. He learned several new sight words and was able to read another book on his own.
Jarrett seems to be doing well with his new schedule. I decided to start waking him up at 7:15 so he can eat breakfast with the rest of us. He then naps when Hunter does his first 30 minutes of school work and again after lunch. The hardest things about my schedule this year is that I only have 30 minutes of "free computer time" each day! UGH! I don't know if I am going to be able to restrain myself! Each hour I walk by and longingly look at the monitor....it's lonely black screen calling to me. "Go ahead.....turn it on.......just for a minute......just look something up.....check email......blog....just 10 minutes". AAUUGHHH!!! NO NO NO!!! I can do this! I have scheduled my day according to my priorities and that leaves only 30 minutes each day for computer time! So.........I'll be alright. sniffle,sniffle......wipe a tear!
oops! times up........back tomorrow!! |

P.S. We are married thirty-two plus years, and I still give my darling those looks frequently, and get them right back.
