Almost Heaven happenings........

• 14 August 2006 - Good to be home

AFter spending 10 days on the road we are finally back home!  I always look forward to vacation, but I also look forward to returning!  I had forgotten how HOT Kansas can be!  It was fun to watch the temperature drop as we traveled further East.  We slept with 1 window open last night and it was COLD!!  I'm sure it will warm up into the 80's today, but for now I am wearing capri's and a sweatshirt.

Our dogs were glad to see us again, but we had some sad news about one of our ducks.  It appears that someone shot one of them right in front of our garden.  I have NO IDEA who would do such a thing.  Our neighbor called us yesterday to tell us that they saw the duck flopping around and it appeared to be shot.  So DJ, and I had to bury a duck upon returning.  The other duck is acting strange and hissing at us.  Hunter wants to run out and buy another duck, but I think we may wait awhile.

Emily and Brandon were thrilled to see the new addition finished and lived in.  It has been 7 weeks since they have been home.  They quickly settled back in though.  Brandon couldn't wait to play his video games in the new room and Emily wanted to spend time in front of her new mirror in her room.  I think she changed clothes 3 times and had different hair and make-up each time she came downstairs.

About 6:00 last night, Hunter and I went out to put the chickens up for the night.  When we approached the coop, we saw a beautiful deer looking at us.  We have apple trees near the coop and they come up to eat quite often.  We slowly walked toward it and saw 3 more.  So again I say, it is so good to be back home.  I really missed our "chores" and our nature around here.  Oh yes, AND the cool weather.

More later..............the baby is waking up and wanting mommy snuggles.

It's good to see you back. It's been cooler at night here to. But the days warm up pretty fast. Have you noticed how you can already feel fall in the air?

God Bless,
Tammy
