I am so excited and just have to share my "news" with everyone! Little Jarrett had a doctor's appt. this morning as a follow up to his diagnoses last week of acute bronchitis. We have met several interns that come in before our regular pediatrician, but the intern today was such an awesome inspiration!
For those of you who do not already know, Jarrett was sick most of the fall and winter with repeated episodes of bronchitis and RSV. I was not getting the answers I wanted, they just kept sending us home with antibiotics!! When DJ took Jarrett to the doctor last week he came home with......guess what.......yep, an antibiotic. Reluctantly, I filled the rx, gave him three doses and then decided that I was not going to finish the last 6 days because I simply did not believe that he had a bacterial infection. There is something more going on here.......something that we are all missing.
Anyway, so today I meet wonderful Dr. Gallagher! He mentions that he often times recommends to parents that they completely cut all dairy products out of the child's diet when they have unexplained respiratory conditions. He further explained that we should give fish oil and eventually switch over to goat's milk, yogurt, and cheese. He was tossing around words like probiotics and raw milk.......things that I actually understand thanks to several blogging mamas. For more info on this check out Dalyn's website. She is a wealth of information and very encouraging! (You will have to click on her name in my friends list, because I don't know how to provide an active link in my text. :( He further explained that goats milk is the closest thing to breast milk and goats are seldomed diseased the way that cows are.
I was VERY encouraged by this man! We talked a while longer and he explained that he currently practices holistic medicine and is finishing up his internship as an M.D. His office is over an hour from here, but I'm thinking that a trip there might be well worth the time.
So, are there goats to be added to our family?? Perhaps! Of course, we will have to see what DJ has to say about this, but I am very, very encouraged by this information!
I plan to do a bit of research over the weekend! Well, if I can squeeze it in. We have family visiting from out of town, we are hosting a baby shower tomorrow and Audio Adrenaline is performing a FREE concert Saturday night! It will be another busy weekend, but lots of fun!
Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing weekend!
