• 4 July 2006 - Rain, Rain, Go away................

We are so thankful to be living high enough up on the mountain that we do not have floods!!  It has rained here for DAYS!!!

We all enjoyed the nice, long, yet very rainy weekend!  I keep thinking that today is Sunday!  It doesn't help that we overslept and missed church on Sunday. This rainy weather made us all very tired because we have slept in everyday!  Saturday morning, DJ got up with the baby and let me stay in bed.  I got up at 11:00!!!!  I don't remember the last time I did that.  It was so nice.    After I FINALLY got up and got ready, we all headed in to Pizza Hut for lunch, and then on to Lowes to choose the paint for our new addition.  I choose Winter Delta which is a brown color for the walls and a cream color for the trim.  It will look beautiful with the new flooring that is 50% done!  YEAH!!  It is finally coming together!!!

Sunday we were supposed to have a cook out at the fire pit, but it got rained out.  We had all of the food ready to take out and DJ was just starting the fire when the skys just opened up and poured.  It went on for more than an hour so we decided to reschedule to Monday night!

We had several families come on Monday night and a HUGE fire to roast hotdogs and marshmellows over.  We had the tent up for the little ones and the older kids enjoyed playing tag and basketball.  Everything wrapped up around 10:30 when the rain decided to return.

Today, July 4 we spent about 2 (rainy) hours at the river visiting family.  The kiddos were disappointed that they didn't get to swim but the water was up too high and it really wasn't that warm.  I felt bad for them, yet secretly happy because I despise swimming in unchlorinated water!  I am also terrified that a snake will crawl out from one of the rocks.  UGH!  Last year we DID see a snake!

This will feel like a very short week since we only work 3 days!!!  Hopefully we will have some dry, sunny weather!!  Hope everyone has a great week!

You can send some of that rain here to Independence. We had .20 of an inch yesterday and it was welcome but we need rain BAD. We were going to watch fireworks from our house that they set off at the park, but there was a tragedy when they were unloading and the whole truck blew up. They air lifted one guy to Joplin, Mo. So Sad. Matt\'s girlfriend lives in Ohio and they had lots of rain up there also. Take care. Love, Jean
