A Work in Progress

Created To Be His Helpmeet

Catherine over at Hawthorn Cottage had an interesting post  about this book, an opinion I was curious about. I would like to start a discussion or at least prompt some thoughts from you. I am especially interested in the thoughts of those of you who didn't like the book. Please tell me why and what you thought was scripturally wrong with the book. I would also encourage those of you who were blessed by the book, as I have been, to share your thoughts. I know that this book was a huge blessing for me and our marriage, so I would also like to encourage any of you ladies out there wondering if you should get the book or not to do so.

I just picked up the comment from the Homestead Blogger homepage - so I haven't followed your blog, but I thought I'd comment. Ceated to Be His Helpmeet gave me a diffrent view of my role as a wife. I knew all the verses and all the ideas but the practical and blunt way Debbie Pearl wrote really struck a chord with me. This book has helped our (already very good) marriage tremendously. I was soooo blessed by it that I wanted to share it with some friends that were struggling and a few that are just always looking to better fulfill Gods role for them. A few people turned into about 30 as people began to read and get others involved. One woman started calling everyone else trying to discrerdit the book entirely, got a lot of people confused (which in turn got more people to read the book, husbands included, and then pass in on to more people). I had done my homework though and had a deaconess and an elders wife scheduled to be at the meeting. In the end about 28 of the 30 ladies we VERY blessed (some having the first hope in years) by the book. About 2 were not and loudly voiced their opinions (they bragged after the meeting was concluded that they didnt have to go home to fix dinner - their husbands would have that done already!).
Nothing is perfect except the Bible, and Debbie is blunt, but if you use it as a tool it can be very helpful. Read it, think about it, forget it and then pray that God would direct you through His word and the Holy Spirit!
Sorry to be long winded - favorite subject of mine!
