A Work in Progress

Preparing for the Sabbath

The Lord so mercifully created the Sabbath for us to rest and He commanded us to keep it. DH and I are still learning what exactly that means. Today, however, for the first time I took preparation for the Sabbath seriously. Here are some of the things I have done and am still working on this evening:

* Last night made a Mexican lasagna that will feed us for supper tomorrow.
* Tonight made a spinach crustless quiche for dinner tonight and leftovers for breakfast tomorrow.
(Now the only thing we will have to assemble is toast and fruits and veggies for our meals)
* I have diapers in the dryer so that we will have enough until Sunday.
* I am working on finishing up all dishes and cleaning up the kitchen.
* I hope to pick up in the bedroom and finish putting clothes away.

The biggest thing, I think, is cooking and doing dishes. We have a very small kitchen and there is no room for dirty dishes. Last weekend poor DH washed dishes on the Sabbath and I wondered why. Well, later in the week (I believe) he requested that we have things prepared for the Sabbath. I am so looking forward to a day of rest tomorrow. DH is too, I'm sure. Mr. Bubbers, well he rests all of the time :). And he's so cute when he does. He's even more cute during bathtime :).

Enjoy your day of rest! We too love the Sabbath- the Lord is so perfect in His ways! I especially like a little book we got years ago from Doorposts but can't remember the name of it. It had wonderful practical ideas on how to prepare for the Sabbath with out stress. Have a wonderful weekend with your baby.... he is growing so big and strong!

You are very blessed to have your DH home on the Sabbath. Mine works 6 days a week, 12 hour shifts. I miss him terribly. Beautiful child. Hug him for me!

We also keep the sabbath. We call it shabbat. We love it. We have kept the shabbat for about 3 years. It is such a blessing!

Shalom
