A Work in Progress

Tuesday on the homefront

It's a dreary, but warmer day here in Michigan. Mr. Bubbers is napping in his swing while I get some computer time :).

In baby news... His favorite toy is still his hands. He is getting better with them everyday. Holding mommy and daddy's fingers, trying to grab bottles, etc. He is still extremely active. Everything is a wrestling match. I come out wetter than he does when I give him a bath :). The cloth diapers we purchased - Mother-ease - are working wonderfully. He's only had one bout of diaper rash really and that is because he mysteriously pooped during the night and we woke up and found it the next morning, too late.

In kitchen news... I have started finding ways to use the large quantities of beans and rice I have purchased. I found a lot of recipes at thefamilyhomestead.com. I made yummy pinto beans for dinner the other night and they are, in fact, yummy! DH loved them! He loves beans. While I'm at it here's my menu for the week:

Sunday: Yummy pinto beans and cornbread
Monday: Pancetta and tomatoe pasta with sauteed kale
Tuesday: leftover yummy pintos and cornbread
Wednesday: Chicken breasts, sweet potatoes and roasted zucchini fries
Thursday: Spicy chili (made it too spicy so we must dilute it) over rice, veggie
Friday: Tostadas

In DH news... He nearly was in a bad accident on Sunday. By the grace of God he was not hit and we are thankful. Last night my wonderful, sweet DH came home with flowers. What a surprise! They are beautiful.

What I've been reading... I have been reading Created To Be His Helpmeet. Wow! Do we all need to read this wives or what?! I know I did. This is a book that I will be reading over and over throughout our marriage as a reminder of what God calls us to do as wives.

Other than that we have not gotten a whole lot done today. I talked to my mom on the phone for a while, took a nap with Mr. Bubbers for a while and this afternoon I plan on:

*Washing the sheets
*Doing dishes/cleaning the kitchen
*Tidying up the living/office area
*Making this ricotta cheese pudding thing (food network - yum!)

So that's what's going on on the homefront. Have a wonderful day, homesteaders!

It sounds like you've been busy. I'm glad nothing serious happened your hubby! The book you're reading is on my reading list for 2007. Hopefully I'll get to it!
