At least for today. Who knows how often I will be able to post for a
while. I am hoping that eventually more of a schedule will come our
way, but there has been more chaos. Well I was getting concerned about bumpkin's weight and so we went in and weighed him. He was not even close to where he should have been. I was devastated. I have been nursing him, but he was always hungry. I was feeding constantly and he wasn't sleeping as he should. So... now we are supplementing his nursings with goat's milk and some essential fats. He gained a pound from a Thursday to a Monday. Praise God! So now I am trying to increase my milk supply by taking herbs and pumping every chance I get. So between those things and taking care of bumpkin that doesn't leave me a whole lot of time to blog. One exciting thing on the homesteading front is that dh and I are going to pick up our first order of food storage items this Tuesday. DH has all of next week off (wonderful!) so we are going to try to tackle that and a few other things around here without getting too stressed out and resting enough to catch up for lost time. Also I am making Thanksgiving dinner next Thursday for DH, his dad and myself so that should be fun. I love to cook and entertain, so this will give me a chance to do that. I need to make a schedule of things to do next week so that I can do some things ahead of time. This is my brainstorm. Menu: Turkey with pan gravy Smashed potatoes Dressing Green Beans Apple Crumb pie with ice cream Pumpkin Pie with whipped cream Things I can do ahead of time: Get dressing prepped to bake off Bake and freeze apple pie (pie crusts are already frozen) We are getting a 20 some pound turkey that we ordered from a farm here. With just the three of us we will only need half of that at a time, so I plan on cutting it up into pieces and roasting half of it and freezing the other half. This will drastically cut down on the roasting time and if I can get dh to man handle the bird it will make my life a bit easier. I will stuff sage leaves under the skin and roast it with butter, olive oil, salt and pepper in my brand new roasting pan :). The green beans will be tossed with some onions and garlic and olive oil. Smashed potatoes are baby reds smashed with the skins on for nutrition and flavor. So that is what's happening in my neck of the woods. Maybe next week I will get a chance to change my blog motif to winter while dh watches the baby for me :). Take care all. { Post a Comment } { Last Page } { Page 33 of 56 } { Next Page } |
