A Work in Progress

Finally back...

At least for now. Wow have things been crazy since bumpkin was born. I can't believe it will be six weeks tomorrow. He's actually napping now, which I should probably doing. I am not supposed to be sitting too long as I apparently am not healed up yet :(. I was supposed to see our midwife this morning, but she ended up having a birth, so we'll have to reschedule. Things have not been very homesteady around here lately. Starting this past weekend DH has had to do most of the work around here besides feed bumpkin of course. I am on a pseudo bed rest I guess you could say. Hopefully they will figure out what happened with the stitches and why other things haven't changed the way they were supposed to. I will spare you the personal details.

Anyways... one concern that I have is that bumpkin is not getting enough milk. He looks so skinny! We know he's grown longer, but haven't weighed him since our two week appointment, so hopefully the midwives will weigh him soon. We are going in on the 13th for our next well visit with our family doctor. It's strange because he is wetting diapers constantly (10-12/day it seems), my milk is letting down, I can hear him sucking and swallowing when he feeds, I am only feeding on one side until it is completely emptied. The only two things that concern me are the way he looks and the fact that he doesn't have very many poopy diapers. Usually 1 -3/day. I have read that some breastfeed babies will go for days and I also read that they should be having 3-5/day, so if anyone has an answer to this question please reply.

Oh boy someone woke up. Gotta go. Will try to post again soon.

Rest easy...I'm sure he's fine and growing well. All of my boys, who were all nursed at minimum 10 months (a couple longer) started missing a daily bowel movement at around this same age. I remember with the first born calling the DR all worried. He sometimes went as long as a week before having a movement, and he didn't seem to mind or be uncomfy. So don't worry. I saw his pic: he's gorgeous! Get some rest.

Congrats!

I've been looking through your entries and your pictures of Lil Bumpkin. How precious. Sounds like you're having a bit of a hard time healing, but it looks like he is doing very well. :o) I wouldn't worry about him not going poop as much. I think some things are just different with each one. I kind of think I dealt with that some with our 3rd... but it's amazing (and sad) how I'm starting to forget some details...
Enjoy every minute!
Blessings,
