Poodwaddle.com (my little brother!) PerspectiveSo there I am Thursday evening -- Valentine's evening -- standing at the sink doing dishes . . . . and smiling. I was thinking how funny it would be if someone were looking in our windows right then. They would see my kids and husband piled on the couch downstairs watching a movie, the dogs sacked out at their feet. Then they would see me scrubbing away upstairs. I could see most people thinking -- how can her husband treat her that way?! Not take her out?! Dinner with the kids, so then she can be left cleaning up while they do nothing?!!! What kind of lazy, no-good bum of a husband treats his wife that way on Valentine's Day??! But they're outside the windows. I'm inside, and I know that we stayed home with the kids because my husband sees them as the most significant valentine's we've given each other. He wanted to love on them, too. We stayed home, and ate a delicious dinner of grilled shrimp and broiled lobster because my husband planned this special meal and hurried home from work to do the grilling. I know we just got done enjoying this wonderful meal together, watching the kids faces glowing in the candlelight, exchanging cards and gifts to remind each other of how much we love, smelling the roses husband bought for daughters and myself, husband telling me in numerous ways that "I surpass them all". I know God has "poured out His love in our hearts", and I am one mighty blessed woman. And these dishes I'm washing, while listening to my family laugh below, are just proof of that.

Just as a flashlight draws power from its batteries, we draw power from the Son of God. As light, we dissipate fear, bring relief and lift spirits. We don't even have to be big to be effective. We just have to be "on". Today, let's pursue that which is good, right and truthful by shining through darkened circumstances. Don't keep the switch off or hold back as though our batteries have run down. Our source is the glorious "Light Invisible."Being switched on pleases the Lord. Stay on.
