Blessings Slipping By

It was beautiful today, sunny, mid-70s, slightly breezy, crabapple blossoms perfuming the air, and birds rejoicing loudly.  I got to spend the morning outside "boosting" the irises I transplanted last fall, and pulling weeds around them in the process.  I was recently informed by my husband's aunt that my irises were planted too deep; the (is it...) rhizome (?) thing-y has to be visible for the iris to flower.  That explains why they didn't bloom the first year I had them in.  After that, erosion helped bring on lots of beautiful flowers, although I often dispaired over my horrible treatment of my gardens that "there were roots showing and everything".  Anyway, about halfway thru my work, the birds shouting broke into my consciousness, making me aware that I was industriously frowning my way thru my work and forgetting to actually enjoy it.  So now my flower garden looks nice and neat, and I have a memory of a few moments spent soaking in sunshine and thanking God for such blessings as He's lavished on me.

About Me

Whoso loves believes the impossible.
--Elizabeth Barrett Browning

We are not called to get love,
but to give unstintingly and joyously,
life-giving agape love to those the Lord has surrounded us with.

What Flower
Are You?

Just as a flashlight draws power from its batteries,
we draw power from the Son of God.
As light, we dissipate fear, bring relief and lift spirits.
We don't even have to be big to be effective.
We just have to be "on".
Today, let's pursue that which is good,
right and truthful by shining through darkened circumstances.
Don't keep the switch off
or hold back as though our batteries have run down.
Our source is the glorious

"Light Invisible."

Being switched on pleases the Lord.
Stay on.
Stay bright.
