Call Me "Strawberry Girl"!

I grew up on a strawberry farm.  We had 3-4 acres of strawberries that we sold u-pick or we-pick.  Spring inevitably meant WORK, and lots of it, as we un-mulched strawberries, planted loads more, weeded, and worried over the weather.  Nearly every Mother's Day I can remember was spent planting or watering.  4th of July wasn't picnics, parades, & fireworks; we were too busy picking & selling berries (on what always seemed to be the hottest day of the year) and too tired to be interested in fireworks.  Thus, despite a rather idyllic upbringing and a beautiful farm-home I still love, I swore off strawberries long ago (other than an annual trip home for some berries for the freezer).  But I just broke that promise.  I just finished planting a bed of everbearing strawberries.  And, ya know, it was FUN!  Strawberries -- can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em!!

What is that old saying about the further you run from something the closer you come to it? LOL... good luck with all those strawberries
