Being Stuck

Yes, the kids decided that they wanted her to be called Josie. Here I was calling her Phina(my nickname for her), while the kids were calling her Josie. This poor puppy is going to have a personality disorder...she isn't going to know who she is...or should I say isn't? It looks like snow is heading our way. I really don't mind the snow. What I don't like is the mud that makes its way into the house, but this only happens once it melts. I know some people may not like being stuck in the house, but I find it a time to leave the world behind. I can spend some time with the children and Brandon(if he is home). I don't have to deal with the worldly things. I will not be tempted to spend any money on things that we don't need, or that we don't have the money for. I will not have to worry about picking up germs and bringing them home with us. I don't have to worry about driving and using a ton of gas just to go a few miles...one of the downfalls of a huge van. I do not have to worry if the kids hair is in place...who cares if it is sticking up in all directions? If the kids want to wear their favorite shirt/pants that have the huge hole...does it matter? No, it sure doesn't matter, and we don't care if the hole is as big as Texas. I also do not have to worry about losing one of the children...well okay, I guess one of the kids could hide somewhere, not answer when I call and I am on the verge of tears because I think that someone has walked out the front door without me knowing about it. The point is that I don't have to worry about losing them in a store and think that some manic has one of my precious children. Nope, when we are "stuck", and that is a dirty word for some families, we can just enjoy each other. We can slow down and smell the dirty diapers...I mean flowers. We can play some board games, bake some cookies, or read some of the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Right now for example, we are currently reading On the Banks of Plum Creek. We just read about the ox that put its leg through the roof of their home that just so happens to be underground. Now the kids can tell me about how someday when they have a family of their own, we can come and visit them in their underground house. Yes, being stuck at home can be such a blessing. It can be a time to reconnect if we have allowed life to get in the way, and who hasn't let life just get in the way at times? |
