A Quick Update

Posted in Around the Homestead

Well, let me see where to begin.  First we thought our well was going dry.  Thank God that it didn't.  We did have to have the Waterguy come out to fill up our 1200 gallon cistern, and the well is keeping up just fine.  Hopefully, we will not have any further issues with the well.  It has been a great well the past 3 years, and we will just keep praying that God will continue to send us the amount of moisture that we need.
Brandon goes to the Dr. next Tuesday to see if he will be able to return to work.  He says that his arm is feeling better each day, but I am still making him take it easy.  It looks like when he does return to work that he is going to have to work out of Trinidad again.  This means more money for gas and almost 2 hours one way of driving time for him.  I hope that he will be able to work out of Pueblo again.  It is only about 40-45 min. away from where we live.  So, we don't have to pay out as much for gas, and I feel that he is safer not being on the road for too long.
I think that the boys are going to go out and work with their horses again today.  Speaking of horses...we may be able to get a horse for free.  It would be wonderful if we do because this horse is supposed to be great with kids, has been used for hunting, and isn't gun shy.  So, we shall see about that.
I am really beginning to feel this pregnancy.  I don't think I have felt this pregnant...ever.  The Dr. told me that the baby didn't feel big, but I think otherwise.  This little one is head down and on Monday we will be 34 weeks.  Now, I know most women say they wouldn't mind going early, and I don't mind...Brandon on the other hand wants me to hold off until my due date.  November 10th is the Marine Corps Birthday, so I have been told I need to have this little one on that day.  I told him that I would try my best, but I can't make any promises.  LOL  This baby may want to be born earlier, or later.  Then again, this baby may go ahead and make daddy happy.  We shall see.
All of the other kids are doing just fine.  Gabriella had roseola.  We thought that she was teething.  She had a fever for almost 4 days.  I thought well if she is still running one in the morning then we might need to take her in.  The next morning the fever was gone!  I was glad that I didn't have to run her in.  When we changed her diaper she had the rash all over the trunk of her body.  By that afternoon it had spread to her arms, and face.  Poor thing was miserable for about another 3 days.  She is back to her old self now.  Getting into everything.  She keeps going to the woodstove and opening the doors.  We are going to have to do something this winter to keep her from burning herself.  She still isn't walking by herself, but she does walk while holding on to the sofa, chairs, beds, etc.  She will be walking some time soon we are sure.
Teresa likes to dance.  She dances for food, to go to the potty, for drinks, cookies, and candy.  All of her dances are the same but we like to give them names.  Like this morning she wanted a banana, and she was dancing for one so we said she was doing the banana dance.  I used to think that she wasn't really all that girlie, but boy is it coming out.  She likes to wear dresses, have her toenails painted, as well as her fingernails.  She loves to show us her "pretty nails".  So, she is girlie, but boy she can hold her own.  Brandon is always saying that she has to be tough because Wesley Thomas is her older brother.  He is right, that boy is wild!
Wesley Thomas is no longer in diapers not even at night, but we do wake him up several times through out the night.  He has been without diapers for about 3 months!  His eczema was doing much better, but then the pollen count went high and back it came.  So, he has gluten/food issues, as well as environmental.  Poor thing.  He is so loving and sweet though, he carries this cross well.  Oh, you are wondering how a sweet and loving boy can be wild...well lets just say he has no fear.  He is truly ALL BOY!  I think I am going to have a heart attack one day, but he is wonderful and I wouldn't trade him for the world.
Tyme seems to have really started to come out of his shell so to say.  Don't get me wrong this boy can be loud!  He has always talked to us, but he is really expressing himself right now.  My dad thinks that he is very intelligent.  Of course I think that all of the kids are, but I am their mother.  LOL  He does seem to pick things up quickly.
Trinity, is just growing up so fast.  She helps me cook, clean, change diapers.  She is just such a little mama.  She loves to do her schoolwork.  She is another one that seems to pick up things without any problems.  Not to mention that Brandon is going to have to worry about boys.  He really is going to have to clean his guns.  He has 3 beautiful girls...I feel sorry for him.  ;)  She is getting ready right now to go riding.  She wants a horse of her own...maybe we will get that horse!
Tristen, reminds me of Brandon when it comes to school.  He can read something and then he will remember it forever.  LOL  He is one of those kids that doesn't have to study for ever to make good grades.  Lucky boy!  He is the dinosaur expect of the family.  He tells us so many things about dinosaurs.  I don't know how he remembers it all, but he does.  History...oh my goodness he is good at History.  He is just like his father when it comes to History.  He could watch the History Channel all day!
Taylor has been really helping out since Brandon broke his arm.  He is doing all the things that I won't let Brandon do.  He may not work as fast, but he is trying to do his dad's work around the homestead.  He cleaned out the cistern, with Tristen's help, and boy was it gross.  LOL    He still wants to work with horses.  I think that is really what he wants to do when he grows up.  I think he is just a natural with animals.  So, I think it would be perfect for him to work with horses.  He is also getting taller.  He just might be taller than Brandon one day.
Well, the kids are waiting on me to get outside so we can all mess with the horses.  Have a wonderful and blessed day.
