Broken Arm...ah...life

Well it actually happened just a little bit over a week ago. My wonderful husband broke his arm. Lisa, how did that happen you ask. Let me give you a hint. It involved a horse named Star, a man named Brandon, a girth strap that was just a tad too long, some wire on the ground, Star going one way, the saddle going the other, and yes Brandon going the same direction as the saddle. See, Star got spooked by the wire on the ground. You would have thought that she saw a huge monster that was coming after her and Brandon. She must have woken up on the wrong side of the stall that morning. The side that reads " I am going to be scared of wire on the ground". Trinity came running into the house. Apparently she witnessed the entire thing. She told me that Brandon had fallen off of the horse and that he fell onto some barbed wire. I told her to get the triple antibiotic ointment and some band aids. She proceeded to tell me how she did not know if Daddy was bleeding or not, but he was holding his arm across his chest. Of course the first thought that ran through my pregnant brain was,"Uh oh, did he break it?" Off we went to the barns and Brandon is walking around Star while Tristen was holding onto the lead rope. I asked him if he was okay. He told me he was, but I was not as confident as he was. I told him that he looked a bit pale. He then said something that sounded like,"I might have broken my arm." I suggested that we go to the ER, but he said that he was just fine. A few seconds later he tried to pick up the saddle and he could not do it. Then a few minutes after that he looked at me and said,"I feel lightheaded." Then he sat down. I told him that he looked really pale and that perhaps we should go to the ER. He finally agreed and off we went. Good news is that it was just a hairline fracture/break...meaning that no cast or splint was needed. The bad news is that he is unable to work for at least 2 weeks. The Dr. said that for a break this was the kind that one would want...I am not so sure about that. LOL He is still sore around the elbow area of his right arm, but he says that he feels better every day. Thank you God that he wasn't hurt any worse, and that he had the type of break that he had. I believe that Brandon's Guardian Angel was watching him. It has been nice to have him all to ourselves...once he is better and goes back to work I don't know what we are going to do without him. |
