I am feeling a little less tired. Actually, I think the AF just whips my tail every month. This never used to happen, but welcome to the 40+ years.. I finally got around to taking some pictures of the girls during their riding lessons. The pictures are over on the blogspot blog. http://thefruitofherhands-motplus2.blogspot.com/ Hope you enjoy! Finally the rain stopped long enough for us to go to the county fair yesterday. I think everyone else had the same idea because it was crowded. I posted a longer entry over on blogspot. http://thefruitofherhands-motplus2.blogspot.com/ Blessings, |

Last Monday, I left my husband and four dear children and headed out with my friend Kathy (I have six dear friends named Kathy) to visit her hometown of Elizabethtown, PA in Lancaster County. After a seven hour drive, we arrived safely at Kathy's mom's house. After taking a lovely tour of her mother's property, Kathy, her mom, another friend, Kathy's sister Tracy, and myself moved into the kitchen to finish dinner preparations. I had Lancaster County chicken pot pie which is nothing like any "pot pie" I have ever eaten. It was very good. I also had Chow Chow and Shoo Fly pie for the first time. Tuesday was shopping day. We shopped at The Basket Warehouse, Weaver's Dry Goods in Lititz, the Wilbur chocolate shop and museum, and the Clay bookstore where I heard my first few words of Pennslyvania Dutch from a couple of gentlemen shoppers. We also toured the Sturgis pretzel factory. I had a blast even though I would not consider myself much of a shopper. Perhaps I have just never had the opportunity to shop in these types of stores or perhaps it was just the thrill of being a tourist. On Wednesday we toured the roads around eastern Lancaster county. This is the day I really whipped out my camera. I took a few pictures from a high area where a nursing facility is located. The zoom on my camera makes these farms look closer than they were. I don't know if they are Amish or Old Order Mennonite farms, but I thought I would share a few pictures.
I also saw a few buggies. Here is the one I got a picture of at an intersection.
We took a little turn off into an Old Order Mennonite Church. I took a picture of the horse ties outside because we just don't have these in Western NY.
We didn't tour the typical tourist places, but I had an awesome time. Can you tell?
I am planning on going back next May with my oldest daughter as a 13 birthday present for her. Now, it is back to reality and gardening. Blessings, |
