From Town to Country: A Wife's Tale

• Thursday, May 1, 2008 - New chicks and sad news

Posted in Day to Day

I received a phone call this morning letting me know that my bantams were here.  So I quickly got the bunny chores completed and fed the turkeys.  Rich then mentioned we need to do farm chores yet this am too... oh yeah and we need to run to Mike's to get milk as well.

So we finally got to the feed store at about 1:30 pm!  LOL  So much for my early jump on things.  Anyway, I came home with 22 little bantams.  12 are for my SIL and the other 8 10 are for us.  I had orginally only ordered 8 for me but there were too many cute ones to stop at 8.  We will deliver the 12 extras to SIL tonight after Madison's Spring concert.

Speaking of Madison, she announced this afternoon that she had a sub teacher today because her teacher's husband died of a heart attack yesterday.  Some of you already know this but her husband was my Phy Ed/Health teacher when I was in school.  Its weird to hear news like that.  They live right up the street from my mom.  I do believe they have a son who is still in high school.  That's too young to lose your dad.  My sympathy goes out to the family.

I'm off to make supper.

Thanks so much for joining my friends list! Your blog is SO exciting! Just love those chicks...and you highlanders...what IS IT about those Highland breeds - whether dogs or cows - that are so attractive? We've had 2 shelties (our sweet 10 yo Hickory died in January from cancer, heartbreaking)...Since we wanted to try a non-sheddig dog, I wanted to get a little black Scottie next, but everything my oldest dd was finding out about them wasn't the best of reviews. So...we got a black Miniature Schnauzer, Maggie...a terrior cousin.

I guess my hubby's German genes finally won one over my Scottish/Cherokee mix! LOL

About Me

We've been working on the family farm for 3 years trying to get it back to a working farm. The farm was neglected for 15+ years before we took it on. The summer of 2008 is our family's first experience living in the country, so began our journey from town to country...
