Today I didn't get started at the farm until noon as I was on the phone trying to schedule a dental appt for our eldest daughter. It took me most of the morning and I still don't have an appt. It took almost 15 minutes of going those stupid menus before I got to talk to a real person. Man, I hate that automated crap! I bet you'll never guess what I get to do tomorrow... try again! but with a different clinic.
Ok, on to farm stuff. We let Hillary and Priscilla out of their pen today to run with Martha and Ginger and, of course, Cooper. Priscilla looked like she was about to do flips! lol Her and Ginger look like best friends. They shared a pen wall for a couple weeks and you can sure tell they were just waiting for the chance to play together.
After supper we brought Gunner out to the barn. Oh my, the festivities kept going on. He most certainly tried to keep up with the older kids. Martha kept calling to him and checking him out. I thought, oh wouldn't that be awesome if she would "adopted" him. Gunnie has no interest in him at all.
So we put Gunner on Martha, she wasn't real happy with us but with Madison holding her leg and I holding her head, Rich got Gunner to suck. He nursed for short time, had a small barrel belly and seemed content. Now my question to the goat experts out there, is it ok to let him nurse and also give him a bottle? I'm not real sure that Martha wants him but I'm willing to work with her and him.
Jackie is our last prego goat. She looks like she's getting pretty close. The babies were very active today and she looked pretty uncomfortable. So I hope in the next couple days we'll have a couple new arrivals in the barn.
Rich completed the fencing today around the new pasture. the critters will get to check it out tomorrow. There is lots of new green grass out there so they should be happy.
