From Town to Country: A Wife's Tale

We took a long drive today (3 hours one way) to meet Heather and Curt.  We were checking out their scottish highlanders.  Oh they are such cuties.  We think highlanders will be a nice addition to our farm.  But before we add anything new, Rich needs to get the fencing done.  And of course, the frost needs to leave the ground first so we are kind of stuck at the moment.  We looked at their horses as well.  They have some real beautiful creatures.  I'm not a horse person so I won't know a good horse but I do know I loved the silver mare they had.  Of course, that one wasn't for sale .

Rich didn't get a chance to finished the chicken coup as we didn't get home until after 8 pm.  Hopefully he can get the window in tomorrow.  Then our chicks can make their move to a bigger pen.

As far as Hillary goes, she is doing so much better.  I think she's going to be ok.  She is up, eating and drinking.  The babies seem full.  Her udder is slowly getting bigger.  The kids are running around and trying to play.  Those have to be all good signs.  Thanks again Marilyn for the help.  Oh yes, and thanks Mike for your input as well !

I think that's about it for today.  goodnight!

Carol

Highlanders are beautiful animals... it was a real toss up between them and Dexters. We ended up with Dexters, but I would still love to have a highland cow one day.

I'll check back to see how things go for you!

About Me

We've been working on the family farm for 3 years trying to get it back to a working farm. The farm was neglected for 15+ years before we took it on. The summer of 2008 is our family's first experience living in the country, so began our journey from town to country...
