There isn't a whole lot to blog about today. It was about -7 degrees this am and hung around that until late afternoon and the temps started dropping. We did chores tonight at -27 degrees with very little wind. I'm so glad that Rich was able to get the barn door closed on the sheep's side before this cold snap hit us. It had been frozen open for several days. It makes a huge difference inside the barn.
The schools in the area are all calling school late due to the bone chilling temps. The wind chills are to be -45 degrees in the am. I wonder how many will close tomorrow.
Our baby bunnies all have their eyes open now. We are down to 10. There are still 2 runts in the bunch but they seem to be keeping up with their much bigger littermates. Our new lionhead, Simon, is pretty thin. I imagine, being left to fend for himself in the snow and cold, took a toll on him. He's eating but not a lot so I gave him a few pellets we use with our pregnant and nursing does and a little extra hay.
Our new buckling is adorable! Tiny Tim is build quite differently then our goats (they are alpine, nubian & boar crosses) so Rich is thinking he's a percentage boar goat. He's very "blocky" looking almost like a wool sheep. I'll get pictures once it warms up a bit. Unfortunately for him, he's at the bottom of the pecking order. Madison hand fed him hay tonight as the rest of the herd is kind a greedy and didn't want to share. It's tough being the new kid on the block.
I guess I did have some things to blog about, LOL.
GoodNight!

Carol, I just can't imagine living where it is as cold as you have been up there for day after day! I am a wimp!!
I too am glad you got the barn door shut...........that would make it much nicer for everyone. Do you have a big old fashioned barn? I kind of wish we did, but they certainly are a lot of upkeep.
