Today, Madison and I particapated in the Sew-A-Thon in the nearby city. Oh, we had fun. We were making blankets and pillowcases for injuried soldiers. Since I didn't bring our sewing machine, we ended up on a table tying fleece blankets. Madison and I started out by ourselves cutting a piece of fleece for tying. It wasn't long before we were joined by 3 lovely ladies who started tying.

Just in case you gals are reading this, thanks for making this fun for Madison. We had the best table in the center. Irene, Alice and Margerette were so sweet. They talked with Madison just like she was a granddaughter to each of them. And Madison kept them talking. She is shy at first but once you getting her talking, its hard to get her to stop. lol
Irene was especially interesting. She grew up in South Dakota on a farm, very much like we are trying to do on our farm. They raised cattle, pigs and chickens. They sold their eggs to market just like our grandparents did. Irene had mentioned that her last trip to the home place was disappointing, all the fields were corn or soybeans. Somewhat boring I believe she said.
When I told her we decided that our grandparents had the right idea with farming, we talked about how our farm was becoming self sufficient and organic. She mentioned that one day, our grandchildren maybe sitting here talking about how grandpa and grandma changed the farm back at the beginning of the century. Oh goodness, that sounds so far away!
We did actually get some work done amongest all the chit chat. We worked for 4 hours and completed 5 blankets and almost a 6th, but they had to close the center. So I'll count that one as 3/4 done.

We sure had fun. Madison is already asking if we can go to another sew-a-thon!
