In between helping Rich bring straw bales from the oats/alfalfa field, I managed to make bread. Oh, it was delicious but I think it would make a better sweet bread then a sandwich bread. So I think I will keep this recipe for rolls and such. My search now continues to find a sandwich bread recipe that we like.
After 3 loads of straws bales from the field (there are still more), Rich stacked them next to the grass hay. Its so awesome looking out the window and seeing the bounty we have for the winter, enough for feeding and bedding all the goats, sheep, cattle, chickens, and rabbits.
The straw bales with twine that broke or didn't knot correctly has given all our critters fresh bedding. The rabbits are going crazy... they just love to play in straw. And the chickens are in heaven, scratching away at what they can find.
Speaking of rabbits, I received a call today about some loinhead bunnies a 4Her has for sale. So we are making plans to go over to Ashley's and check out her rabbits. Madison is having a hard time again, knowing our meat/culled rabbit pen is headed for the freezer. We try to process them when she is not here.
Well, I better get supper on the table.
