Today Austin had a day off from work so he was helping me this am with garden produce. we headed out to the corn patch ony to discover the racoons had visited last night. So, I really didn't have to check the corn to see if it was ready, I know that the racoons had already confirmed that for me. So we went in and gathered a clothes basket full of corn.
I was able to can 8 pints of creamed corn before we headed out to help Rich in the barn. He installed a door on the back of the barn. We didn'thave one last year so this will be quite nice for the critters.. and us. I mentioned that we needed to resize the goat/sheep pen. So we took care of that and also created a pen for the pigs to be in for the winter.
Caitlyn (highlander cow) is getting spoiled with all the waste coming out of my kitchen from canning. She watches the house and comes up to the fence if she sees you carrying anything, lol. She's so cute. Rich has been giving her extra hay since she is expecting a calf in October.
The days are growing shorter here and the nights are very cool. I hope I don't have to worrying about frost for a while. The garden is too big to cover. I have lots of green tomatoes yet.
Goodnight.
