I was at it again today. I finished the corn, which gave me another 15 pints so I have 25 pints so far. OH, it looks so yummy! I also froze another bag of broccoli.
I've never grown broccoli before and I can't believe how much the plants produce. I cut the intial head off and left the plant... and more keeps coming! Of course, they are not big heads like the first but I'm so glad I can continue harvesting. So far, even in the heat, the plants haven't bolted for me. I'm so grateful for such a bountiful harvest.
I also planted a few things for the fall. I'm not sure we can have a fall garden here in Minnesota but I'm trying it anyway. I planted carrots and beets 5 days ago. Already I see they are sprouting so I'm going to put in a lettuce mix as well.
We just heard from my MIL. Her and hubby are heading to Minnesota for a visit. They are hoping to arrive on Aug 27. We are so looking forward to their visit. MIL was happy to hear we will still be at the farm when they are here. Rich was just teasing her on the phone that we are going to serve goat when they are here. OK.. so far, we haven't had goat. All our goats are very much alive in our pasture.
I have news about our chickens. My March chickens have started laying eggs. There is at least 3 girls laying along with Clara and Lucky. Its so exciting, I'm never sure where I'm going to find an egg.
Well, I better get ready for bed. The garden goodies need picking again tomorrow and Iwant to get an early start.
Goodnight!
