From Town to Country: A Wife's Tale

• Thursday, June 12, 2008 - Stormy Night

Posted in Farm

This is from my journal at the farm. Its probably a late entry. I may make several entries a day to try to keep up with the backlog of entries I have.

We had an aweful storm roll through there tonight.  The winds were in excess of 70 mph.  It didn't last long but it did some damage.  Rich looked out the window and said, I think the tree went down that was in the broiler chicken pasture.  I was like WHAT?  you are kidding, so outside I went.  It was about 10 pm.  With the light from the yard light shining on the pasture, I looked and sure enough, a tree was down with the root ball out of the ground.  So I come back up to the house and told Rich he was right.  He then asked, did the tree hit my truck?  Umm... well I don't know, I didn't look on that side of the tree.  I was worried about my chickens, not a silly truck!  lol

So out he went with a flashlight to survey the damage.  Next thing we hear is Rich in the window saying I may need to replant my tomatoes.  Now, why would he say that?  Well, there was a tree laying on top of my tomatoe patch!  UGH!  Good news, the other tree missed the truck and trailer but not by much.

Well, there wasn't much we could do about anything tonight so we will wait and see what the real damage is tomorrow morning and deal with it then.

Goodnight!
Carol

About Me

We've been working on the family farm for 3 years trying to get it back to a working farm. The farm was neglected for 15+ years before we took it on. The summer of 2008 is our family's first experience living in the country, so began our journey from town to country...
