Looking Upward

• Friday, May 29, 2009 - DEBT=PRISON

It's been 15 days since my van incident and still no word on what is going to happen to it.  My husband says don't call the shop or the insurance office; they will call us.  So in the meantime, I am enjoying the rental car and keeping my eye out for a very inexpensive, reliable used vehicle in hopes that my van will be totaled.  We definately do not want nor can we afford a monthly payment!!!!  I don't understand people who finally get rid of one car payment and go right out and get another new vehicle and acquire another monthly payment.  Do they enjoy dishing out a lump sum every month?

I am scheduled to work at the grocery store today and I really, really, don't want to go.  It's one of those days when I know my home needs me.  But this is what my husband wants from me right now and we were both very foolish with credit and debt so we are now paying the consequences.  I am really going to drill it into my children's heads to never, ever get credit cards!!!  "The borrower is slave to the lender" is so true!  Please believe it from someone who is living it right now; my husband and I feel like we are in prison.

I hope you have a good weekend!

Melanie

I wish you all the best in your car situation. Thank the Lord there is a car loaner for you to use while yours is in the shop.
I hope your day at work goes well, thank the Lord you have a solid shift and don't have to work extra long hours or several jobs.
There are definate draw backs to having credit cards. There are some interesting ways I have heard of people using credit cards and one is paying off the balance every month. So, using it to purchase croceries and leaving all of your paycheck in the bank to earn a little more intrest. Then at the end of the month you pay off the balance on the credit card. I think that would be a bit of a challange, but some people do it just fine. I am, also, not fond of credit cards and the looming feeling that comes along with them. I wish you all the best in paying yours off and being free of the debt.
Know that God loves you. Blessings.-me-(Mommy of two little blessings)
