Looking Upward

• Friday, June 6, 2008 - BEAUTIFUL FEET CURRICULUM QUESTION

We have been reading, reading, reading!  Our public library started its annual reading program for children and adults, so even my son, who hates to read, is getting in on the reading action.

The children have also been diligently working on their chores and I have been pretty much keeping up with mine so things have been going more smoothly and the atmosphere is more relaxing here.

But next week, I start job training and I am hoping now that the children know what their chores are, things will go almost as smoothly.

If any of you have used Beautiful Feet for Early American History, I have a question for you.  Did you find the book America's Providential History to be an absolute necessity, or could you do the curriculum just as well without it?

  Have a good weekend!

Melanie

i think for the younger ones you can use it without it. I used it as a guide only. I would read it and then explain its lessons as i read the stories. But you do not necessarily have to have it. Although it does bring out moral characteristics i might not would have thot of myself.

I think it depends on the type of homeschooler you are. We started using the american history book, but never finished it. The Providential History was hard for me to read, so I didn't like to use it for the kids. They were only 4 and 7 I think. Maybe it would be good for older children, I don't know. And it might work better for you if you like the beautiful feet books. It wasn't the right fit for us, at least not at that time.
