Robert E. Lee's Birthday
Posted in Family Related
Happy Robert E. Lee's Birthday,
Just wanted to remember one of the greatest leaders in US history on his birthday. My family tree is full of confederate soldiers, quite a few who made that long march from Appomattox back home. But one copy of a news article I've seen that wish to post about is one of a distant relative of mine. Second Cousin Four Times Removed Henry Harris Sasnett. The article tells how Henry acting as a scout for the south entered a confederate camp and was took prisoner. The solders thought he was a spy. After some time they called the person over the camp and he questioned him about the charge. After determining that he was innocent and a southern scout, the officer asked him to join him for a meal. Then they went their separate ways until the end of the war. Later in Jacksonville, Fla. the two meet again and Henry gave the officer a pair of new boots.
The officer later wrote Henry a thank you note for the boots. This I saw a copy of along with the news article. The note was sign Robert E. Lee.
This speaks of the character of the man. In the book "Christ In The Camp" by J. Williams Jones, Jones did a chapter on the General and wrote how he was an adv id writer. He wrote everyone he could think of with thank you notes. This is amazing knowing the time he did not have to waste.
I saw a History channel doc one day (DVD I got for Christmas) and how the general was not beat but gave up to save lives. I seems his army was out of food and every train shipment that came to them was full of weapons but no food. He was commanded to retreat into the mountains and wage "Guerrilla War". This was something the Union was afraid would happen. This would prolong the war for years to come and cost many-many lives. He choose to surrender and help bring the war to and end. I believe He listened to the commander-in-chief of heaven and obeyed.
Another story on the doc was that after the war. In the Va. church were many leaders attended. The blacks still sat in the back, but one day as the Pastor called people forward to receive communion, an elderly black man came forward and stood at the alter. After a couple of minutes awkwardness a gray haired gentleman came forward and stood beside the black man and took communion. The gentleman was Robert E. Lee. Then others came. General Lee spent the rest of his life trying to heal the division of North and South.
To our beloved General, Happy Birthday. You lost all you had, but gained a place in history and hearts.v

Free Rice for the Poor
I found this great site I wanted to share.
You go to FreeRice.com Play the vocab game and as long as you stay and play the advertisers donate rice to the poor for how many words you guess the meaning of. It is real goos for home schoolers and people like me with a lousy vocab.
Give it a try. It cost nothing but time.

Ring Those Bells
Posted in Lay-ministry
This year I decided to go back to ringing bells for the Salvation Army for some extra cash for the Holidays. I did this awhile back about three years in a row.
It is amazing the things you learn. Here are the things I always see:
1. A small child asking her parent If she can put money into the pot and the parent tells her she can put her own money in if she wants. The child comes up with a beautiful smile on her face and opens her purse and pulls out all the bills she has in her purse and puts them in. Then she dumps her change purse. then she digs to the bottom of the purse and puts in all the extra change found there. Then quickly smiles and runs off before I can offer her candy from the SA apron I'm wearing. In the Spiritual Life of a Christian I see in this child a trust that we need to learn. Her supply does not depend on Her but her Father (or Mother). She can give all because her Father will replace it. She trusts Him. Like wise we should be able to give of ourselves freely because we trust in God the Father to supply our needs. And do it with a smile.
2. I have to laugh at the one's who come by and put a nickel & some pennies ,then comment,"I might ought to give because I might need them one day". This is ridiculous at the least. The Lord does not bless because of a gift but by His mercies. There is a law for giving that says we will get back what we give with interest (so-to-speak). So I hope they get their dimes worth. Give from the heart, that's were the Lord looks. The Bible is full of the right way to give. Giving to get isn't it.
3. Also I see many people who just walk by and ignore you. These people are probably tired of hearing the bells and feeling guilty because they don't think they can afford to give. Unknowing all the Army wishes to get is pocket change. They would like more but they know if everyone gave there pocket change, it would add up and supply the need. One think I believe is that we should "glean" from our shopping. When the time comes to pay, don't pay the correct change down to the cent. Use larger bills so that you would have change left on purpose to give. This is a biblical concept called gleaning. Were the workers in the fields would not harvest the grain that they drop so the poor could pick it up for themselves. This is a good way to do it and do it as an act of worship.
4. People in general are rude and lack manners. This is a result of the dehumanizing of people in our schools and teaching that we are only animals with out a need for morals.
5. There was some very bright spots to speak of. One person came up and stated that She had needed the Army to help with giving gifts to her children for the past two years but today she didn't and wanted to help.
All-in-all it was a good experience and I may do it again next year. I hope that I will not "Need" to do it but will have a choice so that I may give back.

Remember Natalee
Posted in News

I saw the news article Tuesday (12/18/07) on Aruba putting Natalee Holloway’s case (an Alabamian Teenager) on “Cold File” status.
Without ranting on injustice and other issues about this case. I look at my 19 year old daughter and wonder why anyone would send their child off to an island were any person of any age can enter a bar and get drunk? I blame not the parents but the whole worldly view that kids graduating from school should be rewarded by letting them go off and sow their wild oats. This is a lie from Hell and soon more children (and that is what they are. Not young adults.) will end up being the ones planted.
But I do not want to go into all the issues involving this case. I just want us to remember her through the years and not forget that our responsibility to our children do not stop when they get their diplomas. And they board that ship for a Sr. trip to mark their passage to adulthood. Let’s use our common sense, OK?
Also, Let’s do something constructive , boycott Aruba. Don’t go, let your school system know not to allow senior trips there, and contact Game Shows, or the networks they appear on, when you see trips to Aruba offered.

Christ Missing From The Playground
Posted in Entertainment
I just saw the Movie "Recess Christmas: Miracle on 3rd Street" and was really tee'd off. I don't know what the directors and writers were trying to do but they messed up. The carton had little to do with Christmas until the end and the only time Christ was mentioned was in the title. The part featuring a Christmas play was to be interfaith but all holiday beliefs were represented but the Christian faith. We got Santa Claus. And Mickey learned that he was only rel if he believed in him in his heart. They could have at least given Christ the same blow-off. The real miracle on 3rd Street would have been the Lord getting far time.
Here is a list of those responsible for the Movie/cartoon. And visit the people at Disney.

God On The Night Shift
Posted in Workplace Related
"Now there were in the country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I give you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people." Luke 2:8-9
On the night of the greatest event in world history the Lord choose to reveal Him-self to low class shepherds of the fields. These shepherds had to travel away from their families to get their herd to greener pastures. They had to watch in shifts during the night to protect them from predators. They had no corral to place them in for safekeeping. The night shift shepherds were surely the hired hands of the owning family. No evidence just experience on those who is always chosen for the night shift.
God chooses the lowly to share in the Good news of a savior being born. This shows us that God loves dearly those in low places like those missing their families because of "greener pasture".
If you find yourself in this situation as I have found at this time. Rejoice that God has placed angels to watch over you, His flock, during the night. Receive His Good News and joy to all people like you.

Have You Killed An Atheist Today?
Posted in Creation-Evo Debate
“Posted For Christians Only, Not Intended For Others”
A while back I stumbled on an atheist blog on mySpace. He put out a challenge for Christians to go seven days letting everyone they knew think they had turned to atheism. This was to prove that atheists were being persecuted more than any other people like theists. On starting the challenge he took great pains to paint a picture of the suffering atheist that was being persecuted for his belief or lack of. When I read this I could not believe that he actually thought that more atheists have been killed than Christians through the years. So I smugly commented back for him to give me at least one account of an atheist being killed by a Christian.
Well his reply dropped my jaw. He gave me two. One on the comment page and one by email.
“Ashley John Appoo, 40, pleaded guilty in a court in Brisbane, Australia, to the manslaughter death of John Leslie McDonald, and to cause grievous bodily harm to McDonald’s wife, Alois, during an ax attack in November 2001. Appoo, a hitchhiker whom McDonald picked up and befriended, went berserk when Ms. McDonald mentioned they were atheists. Described as a “proud Christian whose bible was one of his most precious possessions,” Appoo grabbed an ax and began attacking the couple. Source: Daily Telegraph, Dec. 23, 2004″
And
“On October 18, 2004, Arthur Shelton, a self described Christian and Eagle Scout, murdered his friend and roommate, Larry Hooper, because Hooper didn’t believe in God.”
This really chapped me. At first glance my response was typical,” These were not real “Christians”. But on giving it more thought. This arguement is all used up. The person reporting on the Larry Hooper story, who was an atheist, and reported on how the “Christians” treated him during the trial. Calling them devils. Shoving their crosses in their faces like they were vampires. And just plain hateful.
And although these are atheist sources, I say it is a shame that I have no problem believing they are true.
So I want to address this post to Christians. Have you all ever read the ten commandments, “Thou (that means you) shalt (you will not) Kill (stop the life of an innocent being). What part don’t you understand? God has told no one to kill anyone in His name. You say you read and follow the Bible, well let’s take a look at that:
Matthew 5:43 You have heard that it was said,”Love your neighbor and hate your enemies”. But I (Jesus) say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you.
1 John 2:9 Anyone who says,” I am in the light,” but hates a brother or sister, is still in darkness.
1 John 4:20 If people say, “I love God”,but hate their brothers or sisters they are liars. Those who do not love their brothers and sisters, whom they have seen, cannot love God , whom they have not seen. (verses from the New Century Version)
Get the picture? We are to love others, not kill them.
To kill a person whom God created is a serious sin against God. You will never have a good reason to do this.
Although atheists have gathered us in mass and killed us like animals, so what?
They constantly insult us by telling us we are stupid and do not use our brains, so what?
You can’t even get on a Christian forum for encouragement without one butting in and insulting you , so what?
You can’t watch a sit-com with your family without seeing a Christian depicted as a lunatic murderer, so what?
These would make a natural person want to attack back, but we are not to be natural.
We are not our own, we are bought with a price.
Jesus said,“If the world hates you, remember that it hated Me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as it loves it’s own. But I have chosen you out of the world, so you don’t belong to it. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: A servant is not greater than his Master, If people did wrong to Me, they will do all this to you account of Me, because they do not know the one who sent Me.” John 15:18-21 (verses from the New Century Version)
People, it would be better for us to die than an unbeliever.
The Bible says,
“Say to them, As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?” Ezekiel 33:11 King James
and
“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15
Years ago I used to travel a little for a small company and I decided I would take a gun just in case I needed it. The Lord impressed on me the question,” Would I really kill someone and send them to hell instead of yielding and risk him sending me to Heaven?” I held on to the gun for awhile joking with the idea that I would never kill, but it was surprising what someone could live through. I later got ride of the gun. My point is we are not to kill, if anyone was to be killed we should have the attitude that it would be better if it was us. Giving the Lord full time to reveal Himself to the unbeliever.
Back to the murdered atheists. Who the hell are we to kill someone just because they do not believe. This makes me mad and we have seen above how God feels. He has no pleasure. God does not smile. You have gave Him no pleasure. These imposters will have to stand before the Lord and give account of themselves. And the worst of it all is that some of you are more offended over me saying “hell” than over these two men killed. Repent. Change your way of thinking. Turn to Jesus and love your neighbor as yourself. For believe me, if you hate your neighbor you are not saved no matter how many times you walk that aisle and shed a few tears.
Atheist are not our enemies. Not gays. Not unbelievers.
“Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorties and the powers of this world’s darkness, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world.” Ephesians 6:12
Have we forgotten these things? Or did we ever know? If you’re one of those who pickets graves of dead soldiers, bash gays or anything else you believe is God’s will, you’d better read all the Bible. Without the love of Christ operating in you. You are no different than the ones you hate. You just know how to speak religious. And you hinder the Holy Spirit moving on the unbelievers.
It is real simple: Treat others the way you want to be treated”. Even atheists, gays and unbelievers can do this. And then all the hate crimes will cease. And I leave you with this:”You have heard that it was said to our people long ago,’You must not murder anyone. Anyone who murders anyone will be judged.’ But I (Jesus) tell you, if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be judged.” Matthew 5:21-22
Note: This post is intended for Christians, please all else hold your negative comments for someone that wants to hear them. Who is not me.

Death Of My Dad
Posted in Family Related
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalms 116:15
Last week my Dad died. Thursday morning Oct. 18, 2007. After being taken to the hospital he had another heart attack. After quite a few flat lines and being revived we decided not to postpone the inevitable.
He had been ready for this event for a long time. He was operating on only 20% of his heart with one artery in and one out. Before when he would have a heart attack, he told me that the doctor would tell him that he did not have much to work with and that next time they my not be able to revive him. He would reply with,"I know were I am going, how about you." His life was full of good fruit, showing what was inside.
The preachers gave a good service but neglected to explain, why my dad was the way he was. Jesus! I believe if my Dad had been there he would have stood up and yelled, "Preach Jesus, Not me!" Instead it was left to the Holy Spirit to reveal to each one there the answer to the question. And maybe that was the best way.
The funeral and burial were the first I had attended of someone really close. It was marked with peace and assurance that He was doing fine. I could not touch his body or even speak to it. I could not see it as him. The old saying kept coming to mind, "Here lies the shell, the real nut is gone."
The comfort that he was with the Lord and that one day we who believed would see him again was very real. I was given my Dad's bible and this passage was marked, "Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
Those who do not believe have no way of knowing this peace that passes their understanding. They know that there is something more. That's why they invade christian web forums and post comments on Christian sites. That's why they spend their energies raving about Christians instead of improving themselves to herald the next evolution of mankind. They know that there is more.
My Dad once was a believer, now he is a knower. We cry no more for him although we miss him. There is a void left in us because of his death. But have peace there is One who can fill the void. His name is Jesus.
After the funeral I realized that I had never said good-bye or that I loved him. The Lord revealed to me that he (my Dad) was plunged into the very Source of our spirituality and when we prayed in the Holy Spirit my Dad would receive the prayer also. What the Lord knew, my Dad knew.
God is so good. How can I ever accept a belief that reduces us to animals with out any real evidence and forsake a God that shows us the truth. In life and death.

My Reply To: "Did The Historical Jesus Exist" Posted on mySpace
Posted in apologetics
This post was written as a reply to an atheist that wanted me to prove that Jesus was a historical figure. I wanted to share it with you all.
I’ve finished reading Jim Walker’s paper ” Did The Historical Jesus Exist”? (http://www.nobeliefs.com/exist.htm) I looked up the references and persons quoted. I reviewed the paper in full. At first I thought you wrote the paper, then it occured to me that you did not. Which was not your fault, you never said you did. Just that you believed it. So it is sort of “Your Bible”. No where did Mr. Walker prove that Jesus never existed. You believe in hear-say evidence. Just as I do. The matter is ‘belief’. If I had realized that you were going by this hear-say, I would never had entered into this conversation with you and wasted so much time. The paper seems to be full of speculations. Like the persons could have not written the Gospels because the life span was only 30 years. If this was true then the Gospels would not have been excepted because of the stories of John the Baptist’s birth to an old couple. People took notice because she was past the age of giving birth not because she and Zeb were beyond the expected life span of a normal person. And the story of Simeon, the old man in the temple waiting for the birth of Christ. And Jesus telling Peter he would live to be an old man with John. How is that for speculation. The only truth between Walker’s and my arguement is that the first century people believed them and most chose death instead of denial. And they believed when the truth of Jesus was well past the time of physical proof.
You wanted me to quote proof of His life. Here it is. I submit the names of the pagan and Christian historians listed as proof. It does not matter that they were later in history. I believe they are right and you believe they were wrong. The pagan historians had nothing to gain by speaking of Jesus. Pliny, Suetonius, Cornelius Tacitus (55 AD - 120AD Over 30 yrs old), Lucian of Samosata, Thallus, Phlegon, Mara Bar-Serapion and the Christian historians like Polycarp who was under the study of the Ap. Matthew. He later was instrumental in pointing out to other church leaders which text were of the disciples along with other leaders who sat under the teachings of other disciples. They in turn gave their lives instead of denying the truth just as their teachers. Knowledge he gleened from an eyewitness. You discount historians because they are not eyewitnesses of the events they report. Should we discount all of our other history books or believe the research the historians did. And if one historian was forced to chooce death or deny what he has reported and he chose death. Wouldn’t you lean more in the direction of believing him? We should let the jury decide. The jury is in. More people that were aware of Him, even opposite religions and other atheists, believe He existed. Historians as a whole believe He existed.
And speaking of “Fakes, Frauds, and Fictions” Should I go into the Piltdown Man and Nebraska Man being faked and one made up from the tooth of a pig. Come on guys.
You and Mr. Walker seem to lack enough knowledge of ancient customs of the time of the Bible or church history to interpret the Bible or Church historical events.
You all seem to push proof, proof, proof. Well, I agree that you can not prove with archaeolgy. Although the oldest fragment of the book of Matthew was reported by the “The Times” of London in 1994 to have been found and proven to be written by a contemporary of Jesus. Dated about 60 A.D. written in the Greek language of that day. Of course it can not be proven that it is written by the Matthew, but it was written or copied by someone who could have known Jesus. Will we know for sure? No. Will you know for sure that he didn’t? No. So where does that leave us. My faith that he did or your faith that he didn’t. It is—all faith.
Jesus left His disciples with an expectation that He would return to earth again. Therefore none of them felt a need to record on paper the events until later. We have history books dating, 100 and even 200 years old by people who did not experience what they wrote about but reported what others told them. Sort of what newspaper reporters do. We must choose to believe or not believe the reporter. If a person witnesses an event and waits 30 to 50 years to report it and then give his life before denying it, does that make his witness invalid? Like the fact that a person existed in history. I don’t think so.
I think your problem is how you perceive God (In Know, I Know, If there is a God and you have no problem).
Say you try to will yourself to believe just for a moment that God existed. You may see Him as an old man who creates a world and winds it up to let it run down and creates people with no purpose than to serve as a whipping post when they do bad. OR can you see a God that created a world for people that He loves. Saw how their sin was killing them, came down to live as a man and experience the pain of man. (Why would God command man to serve Him if He was not willing to live as a man and learn to serve Himself) Then offer Himself as a sacrifice for man to heal the gap in relationship between them. He had a free will also. He could have choosen not to die on the cross. He asked the Father if there was another way to fullfill the promise, but if not He would choose the Father’s will instead of His own. (This is hard to understand by people who do not have Spiritual insight and revelation from God. How God can be a Father, Son and Spirit at the same time) Anyway.
My point is that God is big enough to make sure the events of His life on earth could make it through time and in one piece. If He could not, then He wasn’t much of a God. I’m sure you will comment on this remark.
The church started small. Governed by men locally in small groups. Jesus never intended for it to become some giant organization under the authority of one man that had the power over mans life or death. Peter was not the first Pope. He had disagreements with Paul and it did not cost Paul his life. It was not until Constantine converted that this misguided church came into power. Jesus never said that a person could make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem for forgiveness of sins, which lead to the Crusades. That was never part of God’s plan. He ordained no other works that a person could do to gain forgiveness of sins. All He asked was faith in Him.
Faith which brings me back to the proof you wished to have. One of the main themes of the Bible is that God will only take faith in Him. Not in the works of men, not in mans power and not in any evidence of archaeolgy. He will not allow it. It is faith or nothing.
Also the way you are trying to find proof is wrong. The Bible states that God is spirit and those who worship Him must do so in Spirit and in Truth. God is not made of physical matter and any amateur scientist knows you can not measure anything that is not matter. Can you prove emotions? Can you prove thought? Since you can not physically prove these in science does that mean you have no feelings or you do not think.
Of course not. I can read the emotion when you write. And I can tell you think. Can you prove there is wind? You can not measure it, taste it etc….. You believe in these three because you see the results of them. Also I believe in God/Jesus because I see the results He created.
He created an atom that is held together by a force that science can not explain. It is there. Look what happens when you split one. You can win a lottery every year for the rest of your life before an atom puts it’s self together and forms a living organism. Science and engineering says a bumble bee should not be able to fly. But it does.
The greatest evidence of Jesus’ existence is the tidal wave of change that occured from His life. If He did not exist. Who made up His name? Who persuaded people to give their lives as a testimony to His life? Where in history did anyone else have this influence? You speak of other gods and their similarities to Jesus. Who today believes in the Greek gods. God is so big that He could easily insert into other cultures, like the cannibals of New Guina, things that could be used by missionaries to teach about the true God when Jesus chose to reveal Himself to them. As written about in the book, ” Eternity in their Hearts”.
There is a saying, “You can tell a tree by the fruit it bears”. Through the influence of Jesus, all individuals received equal worth. Before Christ, children were deemed worthless until a certain age. It was a common practice to throw babies into the river or leave them for the beast in the woods if a child was not wanted. Not until Constanine did this change. Through the years many graves are filled by the killing of people deemed worthless or less evolved by atheist governments. Planned parenthood was formed to do away with the black race through abortion. (If you do not believe this read the journal of the founder. )
Also before Christ the poor were discarded to the wayside to die on their own. Through the influence of Christ, people following His ideas reached out to the poor and lifted them up with dignity. Not in any natural or man-made disaster have I seen the “Atheist Relief Society” rise up to take care of the needy. If there is such an organization I do not know, please enlighten me if there is such a thing. Also, During the U.S. depression, atheists and evolutionists believed poverty came through heredity, and had poor children, orphans and others put into institutions and forcibly sterilized. This turned out to be wrong and became part of the hidden history of America.
The one good thing that came from the dark ages is that the Bible was preserved for over a thousand years without being altered. When God chose to reveal Himself and the Bible became public, education became important to many. The influence of Christ brought about the rise of colleges and instituions of learning. You seem to enjoy bringing up the “flat earth” teaching and assigning it to only Christians. You must not know that everyone at that time believed in the theory and it was popular all over the world, except where they believed the earth sat on a giant turtles back and other beliefs. The Bible was tucked away from common people and left them to ignorance by the leadership of the perverted church at the time. Otherwise they would have read in Isa. 40:22, “God sits on His throne above the circle or sphere of the earth….” written 2500 years before the discovery of secular philosophers and believed. You seem to use this in the hope that we Christians look stupid and unlearned. How silly is it that the early evolutionist believed maggots on rotten meat proved “spontaneous generation”. We excepted the round earth when proven, but you all seem to stick to the SG myth although you have not been able to produce it in a lab for over a hundred years now. It is interesting that most of your major colleges in the world was started by Christians trying to improve the education of others. Then the atheists took them over and our U.S. education system is going down the tubes. While Christian home schoolers and students of christian schools continue to score higher on SATs. More times than their secular counter parts. This is provable with just a little research.
So through history we have seen the fruits of the influence of Christ and the influence of atheism and those using religion for the gaining of power.
This Christian believes that no matter what proof we come up with, you all will not believe. But don’t trust me. Open your heart to believe for just a little bit to do a real search if Jesus is real. I agree with what Physicist Robert Morris Page says,” The test of an hypothesis involves the establishment of conditions consistent with the hypothesis to produce results predicted by the hypothesis on the assumption that the hypothesis is true.” In short you must believe in the hypothesis you are testing if only for the sake of the test to have a true answer to the hypothesis. You are like the black smith that did not believe that a ship made of iron would float. Surly if iron would not float neither would a ship covered with it he argued. And to prove it he tossed a horseshoe into a barrow of water in front of the town folk and it sunk. Seeing the proof of brilliance he grinned pointing to the truth of his hypothesis. A little old lady tried to question his finding and was scorned as an ignorant old lady that does not have the ability to think of such things. She left them but returned with her iron kettle. Tossing it in, it floated. She believed the hypothesis therefore truth was seen.
We have seen what atheism will bring about in the world and we are aware that if they come to power in our county we may be looking at near elimination of Christians and others who do not believe as they do, the under evolved. It happened in other countries, why not the U.S. Although after the fall of Russia’s government there appeared a church that could not be crushed. In China, the Christian church is growing stronger than ever. Africa’s Christians although suffering murder torture and life as slaves have hung to their faith. Their must be more to Jesus than physical matter that can be tested in a test tube or found written on a rock.
If atheists come to power and the time comes for me to choose Christ or die you may use this at my trial:
I am Wayne Brooks son of Frank Brooks from Dothan, Al. USA.
I believe in Christ the Savior of Mankind and God.
I believe He came to earth to live among us and to give His life to redeem us from our sins and save us from the penalty of it.
I believe He rose from the dead on the third day after His crucifixion and ascended into Heaven where He waits for the time when He will return to defeat the Antichrist and bring all believers to Himself. Leaving all non-believers to spend eternity without the presence of God.
I believe the book known as the Holy Bible to be the record of all the needed information to believe in Christ and comes from God.
With this confession I swear to live and not deny.
Your 7 day challenge http://www.myspace.com/7_day_atheist_challenge and statements of Jesus not existing seem to me just attempts to gather data for your book and a chance to impress your Jesus Seminar buddies. The shameful thing is that Christians are not answering your challenge because they are afraid or they have no proof. It is because most of them do not care if you believe or not. Well my whole motivation for getting involved with you is to just share the love of Christ with you this last time. I hurts me to think of you spending eternity alone without God with the arguments in your book going through your head over and over again thinking you are right. I know you’ve heard this all before. But I wanted you to hear it from me. I respect your choice and please forgive me if I have offended you in anyway. I do get to be a real smarta..... sometimes. Thanks for the education you’ve provided me. You’ve strengthened my faith in ways your never know.
The good news for us is that in the end we both will get what we want, I will get eternity with Christ and you will get eternity without Christ. We both win?
I end with this and bid you fair well.
Notice: If any of this is used in any book out of context and without permission, I will sue you and use all the money to print Bibles for missionaries over seas. If you wish to reprint any of it for your blog, just ask and let me know which part. As long as you print it all in context, no problem.

9/11 Today
Posted in News
Today we want to remember those who had their lives took away in the bombing of the world trade center in New York. They did not give their lives. They did not die by accident. Their lives were stolen. By those who see it as their religious duty to take what is not their's to take. While multitudes run their mouths about how we need to get out of the war, need to remember that war was declared on us. And do not think it was not those who we are currently involved with.
It is a war between belief systems. They think our nation is of Satan because of the evil we allow to happen in public view........ Well let me not preach.
Where were you on that day. I was working for a sign company in Dothan Al. I was headed for a meeting when my boss came in and told us what was on TV and that the meeting was canceled. We went up to the room were someone had set up a TV and watched in shock.
The rumble of the buildings rocked even our world. Later as the nation sank into financal limbo, our company when bankrupt and sold out. The economics of our business had changed. People did not need signs like they thought they did. Some businesses went under leaving us with a yard full of unpaid for signage that we could not sell. I was laid of soon after.
I can not compare this to those who lost there lives that day or those who lost love ones. But by the grace of God our Lord Jesus. Today is brighter that that day. When people can sit and complain about there government and not be arrested that's a brighter day. It's to bad that we as a people don't want others to have that same freedom. Talk all you want about the war and our president, but remember 9/11.

Laborare est orare
Posted in Workplace Related
As we enter into Labor Day tomorrow I want to mention the area of prayer. Prayer as we work or laborare est orare, "work as prayer". This is a hard concept for some to see. Can a person pray as they work and not get their hand or other body part caught in a machine press. Can you focus on the Lord and focus on your work at the same time.
I say yes, but not in the traditional since of prayer. Prayer as in doing your very best for no other reason but to please God. When you do your job in this attitude, you are in a mode of prayer. Prayer that worships the King of Kings and petitions the Lord of Lords.
This labor day make a commitment to do your job only for the love of God and focus on doing a job well done. Like I heard a speaker on the radio say the other day. "Your job is a gift from God, How you perform it is your gift to Him."

The Net Is Cast Part 2
Posted in Internet Evangelism
"Also the Kingdom of Heaven is like a net that was put into the lake and caught many different kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled the net to the shore. They sat down and put the good fish in baskets and threw away the bad fish. It will be this way at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the evil people from the good people. The angels will throw the evil people into the blazing furnace, were people will cry and grind their teeth with pain." Jesus asked His followers, " Do you understand all these things?" They answered, "Yes, We understand." Matthew 13:47-51 NCV
In the first post by this title I shared how the internet should be used by Christians to reach out to the lost. You may ask "how can I do this?" I would like to offer some suggestions.
Blogging
Any person with a connection can start a blog (weblog: online journal open to public viewing or private) and share Christ in a very real way. Here is how to start.
First choose a host:
blogspot.com (easy to use and my favorite, very popular)
homesteadblogger.com (easy to use, designed for homeschoolers and homesteaders)
today.com (easy to use and one I recommend)
christianblog.com (good blog with christian content, but you can not double post content from another blog, even if it is yours)
bravernet.com (has adds and not user friendly, but free)
myspace.com (allot to it)
Most of these have templates you can use to design your blog. not must HTML needed to get started.
Second, after starting a blog and getting about 5 to 7 post written by yourself. And about seven days old at least, sign up on a traffic generator site.
Try these:
blogexplostion.com (one I use the most)
blogmad.com (good traffic but not to user friendly)
blogsoldiers.com (start for the military, but open for public, easy to use)
These generators work this way, you sign up, surf member blogs. You earn "credits" for the amount of blogs you view. These credits are assigned to the blog you choose and for each credit you get a viewing by another blogger who is surfing the same way. You can also buy credits from the TG. Some TG have games to play that earn you more credits if you desire. You will need to try to post weekly at the least so that you will always have fresh content to view.
You may wonder what you could possibly write about.
What ever you are interested in sports, pets, gardening, tech stuff, the list goes on and on. Write about what you love and tie it to Christ as a witness.
One idea I have is to do a blog called Rev.Tech. and write about technology that
makes it possible for prophecy of the Bible possible (ex: mark of the beast). Book reviews, music reviews, politics etc...

God and the Day's Work: Out of Print
Posted in Workplace Related
I've found this book at a thrift store and I am trying to find out if I can copy it to the internet.
The book is: God and the Day's Work by Robert L. Calhoun
The back cover reads:
"Robert Calhoun, Yale University Divinity School, revises his God and the Day's Work to make a Reflection Book that speaks honestly, directly, and realistically to the problem and the necessity of Christian vocation in an unchristian world - that God's requirements of faith and willing obedience may be fulfilled in whatever place a person may have been "called". Beginning with God - living mind at work, Dr. Calhoun portrays the distinctive status of man, the worker, in God's plans; defines daily work as a divine calling to have a part in God's perpetual task of making and remaking His world; suggests the deep level of religious living that flows from the socially responsible rhythm of worship and work. God and the Day's Work is not a call to specific Christian vocations; it's a call to transform all work and vocations into Christian vocation."
What a concept and get this. The book was copyrighted in 1957 by the National Board of the YMCA
LCCCN:57-11605
As stated I would like to upload this book to the internet. I've tried to research it but am getting nowhere. Any help would be welcomed.

Chicken Soup For The Soul At Work
Posted in Workplace Related
by Canfield, Hansen, Rogerson, Rutte and Clauss
I have been reading this book as a sleeper, just before I pass out for the night. It turned out to be a really good book to relax with and whine-down from the day.
The stories are mildly inspirational with some very good stories of real life from people like Alex Haley and Scott "Dilbert" Adams. And I really liked the story by Dave Thomas.
If your looking for deep spiritual reading to give you something to contemplate, this is not it. The storuies are watered down to appeal to all faiths. But it is still a good read. I recommend it.

The Net Is Cast

The angels will throw the evil people into the blazing furnace, were people will cry and grind their teeth with pain." Jesus asked His followers, " Do you understand all these things?" They answered, "Yes, We understand." Matthew 13:47-51 NCV
Jesus speaks this parable or illustration. In the last days a net will be cast out. This I believe is a prophecy of the now internet. Never has there been a form of communication that makes it possible to reach the whole world at one time. With wireless networks everyone can be hooked to the grid and be in touch watch news as it happens on the other side of the world.
A lot of people see the internet only with it's evils. Porn, gambling, and identity theft. But the Church may be missing out on what God has allowed to be setup for His work. A great net cast to catch the good and the bad fish.
According to the prophecy or parable when the net is full, when the time is ready it will be pulled in and the good fish are separated from the bad fish, the end is here.
Now the question now that you may ask is," Who are the good and who are the bad fish?" The world view today is that although a person has done evil all his life he may still be basicly good and the little good will override the bad. Therefore all mankind is basicly good. So who sets the standard of "Good", a benchmark of Godliness.
Mankind needed an example. God could not find one in man. That's what the whole Old Testament is about. God let man try, but they could not do it. So, being a loving God he choose to make Himself a man and live among them. He becomes a real man and still remained real God. Something only a true God could do. He lives a human life under all the restrictions that man lives under naturally. And when the time came Him offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for man's sins. He brought Himself back to life to show man that He had this power to defeat death. All mankind had to do was:
Receive the forgiveness He offered
Put their total trust in Him as God
Just as He put the worlds sins on Himself, man must put His Holiness on themselves.
This would make them "good" fish.
Now back to the "net". The internet was put in place by God using man. The church has neglected this resource for social and spiritual change for enough years. It is time for pastors and saints to use this end time opportunity to reach out to the world.
Church, do not be afraid of the evil that is on the internet but overcome it with the truth of the Gospel of Christ. This is not about which church has the coolist website or about showing the world that we are web savy. The point is to reach the seekers out there and show them the truth of Christ. And when the net is pulled in, they will be with the good fish in Christ and not the bad fish in hell.

Book Review: The Monday Connection
Posted in Workplace Related
The Monday Connection: A Spirituality of Competence, Affirmation, and Support in the Workplace
by William E. Diehl
From the flyleaf: "Work is a part of God's plan for mankind. We are called to continue God's creative process through the work that we do. Our greatest witness to our faith in our places of work is our degree of competency. Unless we are competent, our witness as Christians is not seriously received by the world."
This book came out in 1991 and I've heard of it long ago, but never read it until now. Mr. Biehl does a good job of laying a background to the "Marketplace Ministry". Helping us to change our attitude about work and to see it for what it is. He does spread it on thick about Churches being ignorant of work issues. That may be right in some denominational and independent churches with full time pastors. But it is my expserence that small churches with bi-vocational pastors do have a clue. My pastor since 1981 is a cattleman and peanut farmer. Well familar with the marketplace and in trying to reach those in his path. So all churches are not grouped together in this aspect.
This book does give some very good ways in which the Church can help us to reach those in our workplaces. This is a must read for all who are called to their workplaces.

The Coal Basket Bible
Posted in Christian Teaching
I normally don't pass on these "feel good" stories you get in your email, but when one comes along that has so much truth in it, I must spread it. Like this one:
The Coal Basket Bible
The story is told of an old man who lived on a farm in the mountains of
Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning,
Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading from his old worn-out
Bible. His grandson who wanted to be just like him tried to imitate him in
any way he could.
One day the grandson asked, "Papa, I try to read
the Bible just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I
forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bible do?"
The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and said,
"Take this coal basket down to the river and bring back a basket of water."
The boy did as he was told, even though all the water leaked out before he
could get back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You will have
to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the
basket to try again.
This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he
returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was "impossible to
carry water in a basket," and he went to get a bucket instead.
The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water.
You can do this. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the
door to watch the boy try again.
At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his
grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out
before he got far at all. The boy scooped the water and ran hard, but when he
reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said,
"See Papa, it's useless!"
"So you think it is useless?" the old man said.
"Look at the basket."
The boy looked at the basket and for the first time he realized that the basket looked different.
Instead of a dirty old coal basket, it was clean.
"Son, that's what happens when you read the Bible.
You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, it
will change you from the inside out." That is the work of God in
our lives. To change us from the inside out and to slowly transform us into
the image of His son.
Take time to read a portion of God's word each day,
and remind a friend by sharing this story.
"Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak
Kindly, Leave the Rest to
God.

Wanted: Heavy Metal Christians
Posted in Christian Teaching
"You have cause for great joy in this, though it may have been necessary for you to be troubled for a little time, being tested in all sorts of ways. So that the true metal of your faith, being of much greater value than gold (which, through it comes to an end, is tested by fire), may come to light in praise and glory and honur, at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:6-7 BBE
Are you going through things that are really stressing you out. Take comfort. There is a reason for all of it. The Lord uses trails in our lives to strenghten us. Just like you can't purify gold or any other metal without fire or heat, we will be useless without trails to make us pure.
The fires in our lives also reveal what kind of metal our faith is made of. Fire or trails bring out the worst leaving the best.
God is looking for those purified by fire and walking Holy before Him.
God in it's purest form is still tanted. That's why it is yellowish. It is never pure. You can only get it to .999 percent. (Before the fall of man gold was transparent like glass. Like it is mentioned in Heaven. "Streets of gold transparent like glass".) Our faith however is worth more to the Lord than all the gold making the streets of Heaven. So He will purify for Himself and it will bring you great joy.
Rejoice in your troubles and will yourself to see the big picture. The outcome of your testing. Heavy Metal worth more than gold. Your Faith.
For the record: "Where in ye greatly rejoice, through now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: that the trail of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perisheth, through it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:6-7 KJV
