Well, we arrived safe and sound from our trip to St. Louis and Decatur, ILL. If the kindness, graciousness and over-all wonderful, welcoming attitude of the folks I met in St. Louis is representative of homeschoolers in that state...it must be a great place! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to all of you who came to hear my workshops...you were very encouraging. I hope everything went as smoothly as it seemed to have - what a great group!!
I was encouraged to write a book - about both topics - by several. Thank you for your kindness. My sweet hubby, Ty, actually got to go with me (in all the times I've traveled to speak, he had NEVER gone to any out-of-state conference with me!!) and all he could do was grin when he heard someone say this...he's been trying to get me to write a book for quite a while, especially one of my unit studies. We'll see.
Thanks again to Wayne, Terri, Pat, Mrs. Mullins and all the rest of the St. Louis team. You are such a blessing to your homeschool community. And thanks, Gena and Paul, for allowing me to represent The Old Schoolhouse at this engagement.
Friday, late afternoon, Ty and I went to the St. Louis Arch. As I mentioned in a previous post, I hadn't been in it since I was 10 years old! My, but those little elevators sure did shrink over the last 37 years! It was pretty cool to look out from the top and see the shadow of the Arch across the Mighty Muddy Mississippi River. And, boy, the skyline sure has changed alot since 1969, too! We tried to call our girls from the top, but my mom's VERY windy friend was on the phone and we couldn't get through...bummer.
Saturday we went to Decatur, ILL and spent the night with our dear friends...the husband of the pair had been our pastor for nearly 20 years and his wife our praise and worship team and choir director until he went to the church in Decatur. It was SO GOOD to see them...what precious friends, what godly examples. He wasn't preaching that Sunday but we did get to sit in on his Sunday School class - WOW - it was SO GOOD to hear him teach again! We love our current pastor, but you can't help miss others that you've loved, listened to, laughed and cried with for 20 years! So happy that we took the time to go.
OK...now back to reality...like all get-a-ways, things like housework, laundry and...oh yeah...SCHOOL awaits!
Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><
