Favorite homesteading resources
I would love to know some of your favorite homesteading and country living resources!
Being new to this, and trying to plan for the near future with the least amount of surprises, I have enjoyed:
The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery (I reviewed this for TOS!)
Storey's Basic Country Skills by John and Martha Storey
Hearth and Home by Karey Swan (recently back in publication! Awesome!)
Herb Mixtures & Spicy Blends by Maggie Oster
The Natural Soap Book by Susan Miller Cavitch
I would LOVE to read about some of your favorites AND why you like them.
Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><

I dont have a tried a true resource, but a book that is on my wish list and that I have heard a lot of good things about is "The Family Cow" by Dirk Van Loon.
For Canning...I recommend "The Blue Book" put out by Ball! Looking forward to reading others recommendations!

I would love to check out Hearth and Home and Carla Emery's Encyclopedia is always a winner!
Our Homestead Story is on my list of reading this month too :) I'll let ya know how it is :)

loved your story...
...about the house and the stairs that ran into the wall - like you I had grandparents that lived on a farm and all the chores I got to do to help - my daughters will never know anything like that and that makes me sad!
OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH........

Hey Back!
You have JUST been on my mind---right before I got your comment! Been missin' you! ~~ I just got a huge stack of books from the library, I will post some names soon on my blog. I also bought "Back to Basics" for my son for Christmas---has lots of neato things in it. And I love Hearth and Home! I love her story about shooting the elk from her bathroom window----the one she saw while taking a shower-----um, dripping wet-----oh, LOL. What a tried and true mountain gal she is. We heard them both speak (Monty and Karey) and they are so interesting!
Well, it has been nice visiting with you,
Hugs,
Nancy
