Homemade Butter...
Tracey (aka Cherkeemom) had asked me about my homemade butter recipe, thought I'd share with the rest of you...Making butter is SO easy...your kids will really enjoy it too.
All you need is a jar that seals really well...I use a pint or quart-sized jar that has one of those lids that has the lid that clips down (I know it has a name, but my mind's a blank on it right now) - it MUST be GLASS. And you'll need 2 little 1/2 pint size cartons of heavy whipping cream. Pour into jar, latch and shake...and shake...and shake...for about 45 minutes.
You will know that it's ready when - all of a sudden - a beautiful ball of butter splashing around in milk will seemingly appear out of nowhere - SO cool! Using a WOODEN spoon (DO NOT USE METAL!!), hold back the butter ball while you pour out the milk, after the bulk of the milk is poured out, use the wooden spoon to press and press against the side of the jar until all the milk you can get out is pressed and drained out of the butter. Put the butter in an air-tight container, sprinkle with a little salt, mix and cover until you use it. VERY simple! Very good on fresh baked bread! Enjoy!

MmMM.. I can't wait to make my own :) We have goats ready to kid, and I am ordering a cream seperator so I can make butter. I have had fresh before and it just blows away what you buy in the store.
Thanks for sharing!
