If you could...
...choose any sort of full or part-time job...either to have done before you started your family, to do part-time now, or to do after your homeschooling/childrearing days are finished...what would it be?
I just had an e-mail from an aquaintance who is a mid-wife. I believe that if I had known that mid-wifery was still something done today, that I would have liked to have gone to school for that. What a thrill to be there when so many beautiful babies are born and to help ease the fears of new moms.
I, personally, had to have all of my children c-section (I had toxemia with our first and our other 2 were over 9 lbs! I never got past 4 cm.). But, I also understand that there are methods that mid-wives can use to decrease the likelyhood of having to have c-sections. Oh, if only I had known...
What would you have liked to have done? Let me know.

I have THE greatest 'set' of jobs ever right now in my life........
Momma, Teacher, Wife....& I get to work with a great group at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, and with my husband on our homebased business--God has truly blessed!!
I couldn't ask for any better 'jobs' :)

Amen, Liz! I agree...I did BY FAR make the BEST choice!! I don't want anyone to think that I am dissatisfied with being at home. NEVER!! I'm just posing one of those "What if..." questions.

My daughter is pretty much raised and I was lucky to be able to stay at home with her during most of that time.. but now I have more time...what I am doing right now is subbing at the school district, which I am enjoying, some days I work, some days I dont :> I also make soap and sell which keeps me busy ...
but here is the dreamy part of this.. If I could I would go back to school and become a kindergarten teacher..

I was "blessed" with the opportunity to work a variety of jobs before having my children. I was almost 24 before I had my first child. I say "blessed" because it really reinforced in me what I was meant to do, be a mommy. I have always wanted a large family. That didn't work out the way I planned, but I am satisfied with the 2 children that God did give to me.
Once upon a time, I was to be an accountant/financial planner/ whatever as long as it was in New York and I could have a really cool apartment and all the things that go with that lifestyle. My mom asked if I regretted not going that route, instead of the one I chose. I said no that God must not have meant that for me. And that looking back now, I probably would have been there on Sept. 11, possibly in one of those buildings (if I had my way about it). Now I have no idea what I will pursue once the children are grown and gone, but God will direct me to the right path.

I did private duty in geriatrics - I could see myself doing that again. My dream though, is to open a consingment shop geared towards homeschoolers. With a place for co-op meetings and classes.
what I would be if I could be...
...is a writer, artist, musician, women's/homeschool speaker, market gardener, Biblical counselor... But each of those things has peeked into my life in little ways over the years. And right now, I *can* choose to do many of those things in carefully-sized portions, only with the inclusion of my kids. Which is super-perfect and greater than anything!
I have no idea what I'll be when they and I grow up, but I know God is growing it, and He's growing it strong. He is so beautiful.
