We've had a slightly busier than normal week....
My dear friend, and Ohio Representative, Diana Fessler invited myself and others to an appreciation dinner, last Thursday. I am SO honored!! My family, and several other homeschool families, have worked on Diana's campaigns over the years. She is such a precious, godly woman, wife and mom. She got her "baptism" into politics in 1989 by helping to write our Ohio homeschool law; that led to her interest in politics. Her first course of action? Getting elected to the Ohio Board of Education! And then, on to our district's Representative.
Her key note speaker for the eveing was a gentleman who is a writer for the Washington Times (please forgive me - I can't find the paper I had his name written on). VERY interesting. It was incredible to hear him tell the behind-the-scene acounts of national news stories he helped to break.
Friday, I began teaching hammered dulcimer to one of our daughters' friends. What a sweetie! She got a hammered dulcimer for CHRISTmas and is just now getting down to the lessons. She's eager and I think will do very well.
Saturday morning, a sister church to ours had a ladies breakfast and invited the ladies from our church. (Last year, our church invited their ladies to a retreat with us.) They are becoming dear friends to our church and it was so good to see them again and to be treated to such a YUMMY breakfast. The host ladies made everything themselves - thanks ladies!
Later that night, we inaugurated our new growth group. We are in the praise and worship team at our church, it only made sense to form our own group, as we are so close to each other from spending so much time w/each other - most of us have been playing together for almost 20 years (between 2 churches)!! So, those of us who were interested (so many have such time constraints) formed our own growth group and our first meeting was Saturday night. I love these people - they are my second family.
THEN, SUNDAY...worship with the saints! My favorite day of the week. I received a DOUBLE BLESSING!! A friend of ours gave me 3 tickets to see Franklin Graham speak on April 4th in Troy, Ohio (our neighboring town)!!!!!!!!! My mother, who is 76, just accepted the LORD last year and she thinks so highly of Billy Graham, my husband and I will be taking her to see Franklin. I'm so excited...mostly to be able to take my MOM to a Christian function!! The LORD is GOOD!! This is so special to me on many levels...but mostly because of her new conversion. I had never realized, until Daddy died nearly 7 years ago, that HE carried their faith. And now, Mother has her own. Praise the LORD!!
Now...if only my new aged brother (and his family) would accept the LORD, heaven will be complete.
Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><
