delimna and a question on Tiny Tim

As some of you may know, ds6, Bug, has the part of Tiny Tim in our homeschool play. he has really looked forward to rehearsal - his favorite part has always been that he gets to ride on the shoulders of his "father" Bob Cratchet, and also on the shoulders of Scrooge. The play is next Saturday night. One week.Yesterday at rehearsal, he decided he didn't like anyone touching him, not to ride on anyone's shoulder. and if that wasn't enough, he was refusing to say his lines (which he has had memorized since the beginning - he only has 5: "Merry Christmas" "It will be fine, Mother, honest it will" "The pudding, the pudding, the pudding" and, of course, "God bless us, every one" twice). then he had a meltdown on the floor and said he doesn't want to be in the play anymore. we compromised a bit for yesterday, but I am afraid that at the performance he will go on strike again. any ideas of what I can do to stop that? If he had the part of a narrator or one of the other Cratchets, he could go on strike and no problem - someone else could take it. but he is TINY TIM, and you cannot just get rid of him. And the fact that he agreed to do it, has been excited about it, and he needs to follow through on his commitments. other people are counting on him. do you think it is stage fright? but does he really know what that is so early in this - he has not been in a play before, and we have not been practicing on a stage. I know one thing - he is getting a nap the day of the play. If we have to drive to Ogden (45 minutes each way) in order for him to have a sleep, he is getting a nap.
