homestead now? can it be?

my husband called me the other day, with a criptic question: how many acres do you want?  seeing as he has never before expressed interest in such details, I wanted to know more.  Unfortunalty, he was not able to expound at that moment.  but, it seems that his direct boss is planning a move north to company headquarters, and he would like us to come with him.  this would be in a small town in northern utah, lots of chances of homesteading.  the delimna: this is NOT where I wanted to move.  I want out of Utah - I won't go into it now, but suffice it to say, Utah is a very gov't-controlled state.  It is close enough to the border of Idaho that we could live there (which is high on my list of places) but it would mean a bit of a commute for dh, and getting high-speed internet too far out of town is chancey (which is a necessity for his work; he's a programmer, and often needs to troubleshoot from home, not to mention work on his own stuff).  and, we are almost out of debt in this house.  In order to get the land and internet we want, we may have to take out another mortgage, pushing back our "freedom" date.  we do NOT want that, but... to get these kids out of here and into a place where they can run and play outside without worrying about neighbors (ours are mostly great, but then, I don't know half of them - never even seen people at some of these houses, even working in the yard!  Who knows?) or strangers in the yard (big dog, anyone?).  and chickens.  we are eating about 4-5 eggs a day, and as much as I would like to buy hormone- and antibiotic- free eggs, I cannot afford to do that!
so, now, we are praying hard to find a solution.  I have been feeling for a while that thsi was coming, but, as I said in a previous post, I was not sure if it was my own desires pushing the thoughts or the Lord preparing me.
We are going to look.  we have friends up there who maybe can help us, and I hope this is the Lord's will for us, but if not, may He grant me serenity about it!

To what He has in store for you. I know how you feel - we live in New York!! But I have to admit, this part of N.Y. I can find peace in. It's taken some time, but it's here. I'm just now learning it's not that it's new - I'm only just now leaving myself open to accept it. Besides, more often than not - what is in store for us is so much more than we even dared to dream to want.

Wow . . . .

I will be praying for you and your family! I try to remind myself that it's best to be where God wants me, even if that means the city right now. :-\ You never know what God has in store!
I'm praying!

Hey, I don't mind long comments. :) I think yesterday was my official "Leave nearly everyone the longest comment possible" day. I think some of mine rival yours. ;)
J is against using treats to potty train; I remember the scenario with my youngest two brothers as they are 8 & 10 years younger than me. I'll tell him if he wants to use his vacation, he can do it however he likes himself! *giggles*
And the cloth diaperers are very convincing . . . I just had to set the #'s strait, though! I was on a roll this morning! :P
Ashley aka Jonash2004 who is too lazy to sign in at the moment!!! :)

Hi, Sunshine, funny you should leave a post for me today. I happened upon your blog about possibly moving last night and enjoyed hearing about it - thanks for your house sympathy, too! Chris

Sounds interesting

Well, perhaps your government won't be quite as invasive when you are in a smaller town. And your chance to have LAND ????? I think (myself) that it would be worth the trial. Away from neighbors, having chickens and eggs?

Think and pray, but I think it's a shot at a great chance and you might really like it.

Good luck.
