My DS is 5. He too had this problem of not wiping. It is just one of those things that takes practice. For DS it was the fact that he got a soar bum and I told him that if he wiped his bum better that he wouldn't get a soar bottom. That seemed to do the trick. he will still occasionaly call me to help with the job.

AFA washing hands. Does he know his ABC song? I'm teaching DS to sing his ABC's. He must wash his hands through out the entire ABC song (normally takes about 30 seconds to sing). Before that it was that he had to make lots and lots of bubbles before he was considered done.

I have found with my son, who's now 5, that if I can make a situation somewhat comical, he is more likely to cooperate. In the same situation I would tell him that snapping turtles stick to his behind after he poops and he needs to wipe them off before they start to bite.

We are going thru this exact same thing my my 4 year old. I was thinking I might put up a little picture chart in the bathroom to help him remember.... wipe, flush, lid down, wash hands, etc... On his own, he usually gets most of them but always forgets something and never remembers to wipe!
