homesteading and God

I just came from the blog of The Unusal Farmchick, and what she had to say made me think.  Here are my thoughts that came from her post.

I am sorry there are non-christians who feel left out.  I am not a mainstream christian either.  I do like the spiritual tone to the blogs.  It seems that almost everyone whose blog I have read has talked at one time or another about their beliefs in the higher being, whatever you call it.  And I don't know if that is because being on the land, seeing the wonders of nature and the miracles of the circle of life inspires awe and a feeling of reverence.  I love that people here are not afraid to talk about spiritual things and share bits from their other lists and sunday sermons.  I think that there is truth in everything, and a bit of Holy Writ, whether it is scripture in my religion or not, generally has good advice.
I believe there is a God, that He loves me, and you and everyone, Christian or not, and I think that there is a place for discussion of His word here, and I am glad of it.  And I truly hope that my Christian and non-Christian homesteading sisters (and brothers, I know there are a few hanging around) know that I love reading their blogs and hearing their advice and learning from all they do.  I also enjoy learning about others' beliefs.  So, to one and all, I ask that you continue sharing your thoughts and experiences about homesteading, your lives, and your experiences with Diety.  I love hearing about these.  And please do not be offended if I do not read or agree with all of your posts.  I am not.

Great way to put it! We are all in this together, no matter what we believe, race, country or whatever...this blog is about simplicity and homesteading, whatever that may mean to us as individuals.
Thanks for posting that!

I am sorry that non-christians are feeling that way. I had to stop and reflect on what I was writing about. I will always write encouraging things and not keep it hidden that I am a Christian. But I do have to say I need to write more about homesteading! It is a homesteading blog.
I do agree with you about everyone sharing their thoughts. I like hearing about everyones life. So please do not stop.

Hi

Just don't let your dh read my "If you give a family a farm". My husband was teasing me this morning. He said, "You know I try to make you happy, don't you?" We've got land, a horse, a few dogs, a cat and bunches of chickens. And we absolutely love it. We never would have thought that we could keep up with it all~ we had a hard time just taking care of our yard and home maintenance in town sometimes, but the peace and quiet is worth EVERY bit of it! :o)
Thanks for stopping by the Front Porch,
~Nancy

I don't know what to do about the way the blogs are named either. It's the same for all of us - three different identifiers.

I tried the link you have here for this gal's blog, but she took down the discussion on religion and just left a note saying "no religion."

I agree. In my case, it's not religion. It's relation. Systematic theology is not the door to God's family, just a detailed explanation of the hinges, joints, framing, locking mechanism and key. Religion and faith are two different things.
