bloom where you are planted - thank you
I love this site, I love all of your ideas and recipes and
hints and tips and I am grateful you share your concerns and funny children
stories - and chicken stories and children/chicken stories. Wow,
though. there is so much you all are doing, I feel overwhelmed and
slightly incompetent. Ya know, I think the worst of that is because I am
stuck in the burbs in a TINY kitchen and no immediate hope for chickens
myself. Our church did a thing for women many years ago with the theme
"Bloom where you're Planted," and well...
Sometimes a flower seed is planted by the Lord in a happy fertile meadow with
lots of nutrients and friends, and sometimes the seed is planted in the crack
of a busy city sidewalk. Either way, the flower seed grows and blooms to
her best ability. Right now I guess my planting place is here, and I need
to stretch forth my roots and grow what I can here. Already you ladies
have inspired me to keep my house clean(er) and to work in the yard - I
transplanted some raspberries yesterday, and enjoy my children more in their
levels of growth. And to do more to feed my family healthy meals for
less.
And my dream about which my husband lovingly laughs of a homestead with
chickens and bees and a goat seems so much more feasible now. Like before
it was something that would be nice, but how would I ever accomplish it?
Now, I have role-models and sisters (may I call you such?) to help me on my
way.
Now I need to get off my behind and get back to work - making beef stroganoff
to freeze for later quick meals. Sometimes it seems easier to prepare one
HUGE batch of something and freeze it than to make the same thing 4 times.
Have a great day!

Hi
I am curious how huge is huge? I wonder every time someone mentions freezing things.
I remember moving once, how it seemed impossible, but any steps towards something eventually gets you there. Just the checking things out and thinking like you are doing.

It is such a true story you share about letting your seed sprout it's roots where you are...seeking the Lord for nourishment to grow however he chooses in that place. We have had to move a lot over the years and I've had my tiny kitchens, 1 bathroom for 6 people, etc...but not only did we grow in our experience there, we seemed to touch the lives of others-spreading those seeds God gave to us. We appreciate finally owning our own home and although it is a bit smaller than we'd like-we do have a big kitchen & 2 bathrooms. (Much appreciated by all!) May God enrich your soil & bless you in a special way this week~ Your Sister in Him, Karyn

It's something we're really just starting to learn. While we are in the country - there is so much we can't do due to limited space. Yet, I cherish what we can do, and learn through that. If ever we're blessed with more, it will be more to learn. At least, by then we should have a handle on what our space here allows us to learn - even if it's just using the weeds in the yard, lol.
