Today I marshaled the kidlets - my 4 yr old Bug and 2 year old Bear and we went outside to turn my weed garden into a strawberry patch. Luckily, it has rained, and even snowed in the past week, making the ground still very soft and easy to shovel up crab grass, dandelions, and those nasty pernicious weeds that provide the tiny "cheesies" that children like to eat. Bug had soon collected himself a large collection of tiny worms - the big ones were "poison." Little Bear was rather nervous when I handed her a worm, but she quickly warmed up to it, so much that she eventually raised it to her mouth and gave it a kiss. When I said "oh, don't do that," she said "yucky" and then pursed her lips in a simulated spit. I explained that worms weren't "yucky" per say, but since they live in the dirt, kissing them isn't the greatest idea.
so, now, we'll be able to get our strawberries in this year.. yeah! maybe we'll get some next year. It is too late to move our raspberries to their new patch this spring. I think. I will ask around, but I think it is too late. sadness. Our raspberries have already started turning green and budding out. :):):)
I am grateful for this site, for the warm welcome I have received so far, and for the encouragement to spend time with my Creator before I do anything else in the morning. I think that will - and has - changed my outlook each day, and reorganize my priorities.
