vertigo and electrolytes, help if you can

Hi.  do you ever feel like you are the top of a very high building (think Empire State) when the wind is blowing.  the world is gently swaying, but not enough to make you sick.  that is my constant state of being right now.  I am not sure the exact cause, but if you have any thoughts on my thoughts, I would love to hear them.  Oh, and this has been going on since at least Sunday, maybe earlier....
given: I am pregnant, and in that awful first trimester, the one where I wonder "WHY did I want this again.  NEVER AGAIN!  agh!  will three nine months EVER end?"  (note: I do this every time, but I am on number four, so I guess I forget.  or the thought of that lovable armful at the end overrides the memory.)
given: I have normally low blood pressure.  no, I am not sure of my normal, but I know it is low enough the nurses always comment on it.  I also cannot give blood - they start pumping, and I fill about half a bag, then it just stops.  seriously.  my midwife often has to poke me in two different spots to get all the prego blood tests (about 4 vials) full.  It runs in the family (my grandmother was prescribed potato chips by her doctor to bring up hers)
given: I get very anemic while pregnant.  I am taking 25 mg of iron biglycerate twice a day, and my main iron-deficient symptoms (exhausted-tired-like-I-cannot-move, shaking, etc.) are not in evidence.  this is the very type of iron I have taken in my two previous pregnancies and it has raised my iron levels to manageable levels.  I like it.  (I did have to try like 6 brands/ types before I found one that did NOT make me sick.)

other possible factors:
I am still nursing my 22-mo.  would that contribute?
it is kind of warm here, but I am not even breaking a sweat.
I am nauseated a lot of the time, but I have not actually thrown up (yet).  thanks, I think in large degree to the liberal use of nasty, pasty, chalky ginger tablets.  but they do work.  even if the chewing and tasting seem to aggravate the sensation for a bit.
my ears do not hurt - so and ear infection is not a culprite, is it?

if you have any suggestions, oh wise ones, I would like to hear it.  if you have any recipies for elctrolyte drinks, I would love those as well.  The gaterade, etc. is so full of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) that I am afraid I will have a reaction to that since we have it so very rarely and in small doses.

meanwhile, I am here, atop my own personal skyscrapper.  I am trying to enjoy the view.  and the swaying while sitting still.

Oh, I might be able to help with some of your symptoms.

Have you tried apple cider vinegar for your heartburn/nausea? It can really help! Take a couple of teaspoons several times a day, with or without a meal. My husband does not take chalky tablets and more at all after using this. You can't overdose, so use what works.

As for the anemia, do you cook with cast iron pots? That alone can often fix the problem. If it doesn't, try increasing your intake of *fresh* whole wheat. Get a mill, or find a friend with one. Vitamin E is essential for the hemoglobin to be able to carry the iron and vit. E is difficult to get in large amounts. Freshly ground whole wheat is a wonderful source. It oxidizes quickly, though, so it is not present in purchased flour. When we started milling our flour, several of my children had warts. Warts are also a sign of Vit. E deficiency. They were all gone within a couple of months and haven't returned (and it's been years!).

Iron tablets (and pregnancy in general) often cause severe constipation, which can/will cause hemmoriords. You don't want those!! Eat lots of fresh fruits and especially dark green leafies. Try a green smoothie every day. You'll be surprised at how good they taste and how easy it is to go. Here's my basic recipe: http://www.homesteadblogger.com/mommaofmany/66976/

For the dizziness, you could try a homemade "Gatorade" drink and see if it helps. Here's a recipe: http://www.recipezaar.com/93652

Congratulations on the wee one!!

I had similar symptoms..........
Found out I am allergic to camomile.
I was drinking a cup of tea before bed to help me unwind.........
Little did I know it was messing me up bad!!!
So.......I steer clear of all camomile now!

Salt

04:29 AM, Thursday, July 24, 2008 .. Posted by BeckyTom
I have had salt in buckets for a while with no changes. with a lid on bucket, it should be fine. Maybe put some crackers or the keep dry packets in with salt. But I have had no trouble.

Skyscrapers and Thank You.

That doesn't sound like a pleasant feeling. Especially since I don't particularly like skyscrapers.

My mom experienced something like that years back and I remember it was an imbalance in her inner ear that caused it. Also, the doctor suggested she lower her salt intake. Could it be you're consuming too much salt? I hope you find some relief soon.

I also want to thank you for the comments on my post. Good points - I do speak Spanish and that is part of the reason I would not make much less than I make now - also because I can teach music.

The price of the certificate doesn't affect much because the State of California will reimburse me for most of it.

However, the flexibility is something I hadn't thought of. The Christian school makes more sense because it is 10 mins from our house and I would have summers off. In public school I might wind up as far as 40 mins away (no control over where in internship) and a lot of the schools are year round.

Hmm something else to consider -- it would cost me more in the long run to teach public school with the commute - cost of gasoline, etc. Something I hadn't figured into the cost.

Also, we are hoping to adopt a slightly older child (5 or 6 yo) and that would be where we send them to school.

Again thank you for your help - really gave me something to think about.

I'm so sorry I cannot help, but I will say a prayer that this can be figured out.

Blessings,

Connie
