• Friday, May 9, 2008 - I am still around
Just letting you know that I am still around! Oops, I havent been to my blog in a long time...what should I say this time....So many things were happening since Thanksgiving 2007. Phineas, our 5 y.o. son, lost his first tooth last week and he was very excited about it. Josiah, our younger son, will turn 3 soon which I am not excited about. He is not a baby anymore!
Phineas is doing very well in schooling. In the last few months, he learned to add 3 digits such as 10+3+2=? and also 23+15=? He learned to count coins and understood what the dollar and cent symbols mean. We are still working on his reading skill which he dislike the most. He'd rather Daddy or me to read the book for him, LOL! Phineas started to write at age 3 and dramatically improved when he turned 5 years old last October. I have tried and tried to teach Phineas to read the clock, but he forget so quickly. So, I am waiting for a few months to try again. No hurry, no pressure, etc! That's what homeschooling is for!
For Josiah, I may have him start on writing soon since he'll turn three on May 25 and see how it goes for him. He recognize all of the alphabet, most shapes, and patterns. (ie: Red box, Red box, Yellow box, Red box, Red box, then what's next?) He has been an expert with computer since he turned two. Yes, he sure was! Well, just how to use the mouse to click on something on the screen, click and drag the picture, and few other basic things such as turning off the computer. I did not teach him! I dont think his Daddy did either! It must have been his good observation, huh? Or was it PHINEAS who taught him???
Right now, I am looking for or thinking of a new recipes to cook!! Yum Yum!! I invented a recipe for Tuscany Gnocchi-Spinach Soup and it was a huge hit!!! And guess what??? I could not find the recipe I wrote down! One of us misplaced the paper!!! My next invention would be the Cheese Enchilada with Homemade Green Sauce! I just hated the canned green sauce. My next invention or search for this upcoming Thanksgiving is Unique Pumpkin Pie. Not those tradition Pumpkin pie found at Thanksgiving dinner, but something different! Umm??? My mom made the world most delicious dessert called Death By Chocolate Cake. It is a very, very expensive and time-consuming dessert, oh, but worth it! I have the recipe...just need to try it someday!!! Oh, I just now remembered my delicious Chicken Cacciatore cooked in white wine and my homemade spaghetti sauce!!!! Now, what should I cook for tonight??
Speaking of cooking, I need to go and prepare dinner for tonight! The dinner tonight will be something very simple anyway! hehe!
Oh, by the way, my hubby is doing great. Just busy, busy with Earth's Outlet which he owns. (www.earthsoutlet.com)

• Tuesday, October 16, 2007 - Dental Care?
It has been about 15 years since I have been to a dentist office. I finally went to get my teeth checked few days ago. The result of the check up was much better than I thought!! The dentist said that I have a few tiny cavities. In the first 30 minutes of the appointment, the dentist acted like my cavities were nothing to worry about, but when I was about to leave the office, she acted like it was very necessary to get the fillings done. Umm? Is it worth spending $65 each just to get the tiny fillings done? What if it is not necessary? What if my teeth can heal by itself since it's so tiny? Is Calcium supposed to do its job to strength bones and teeth? Umm? Something to think about! So, my husband and I "think" that the teeth can restore itself as long as I get enough calcium intake. Anyone of you know much about natural dental care??? Please share! We would rather do the natural way of healing (with herbs, natural medicine, and foods).
If my cavities were sooo big and deep, I'll get the fillings done before the root canal was necessary!
I have one root canal...Hey, its not because of 15 years of no dental care!!!!!! It was because I got hit by a ball in our baseball practice for the state tournamant! The dentist told me that my braces saved my tooth from falling out! So, I can still keep my real tooth with root canal installed instead of getting a fake tooth! Boy, I had a huge, ugly bruise around my lips that my high school classmates thought I was in a fight! (me? fight? nope!) I had to cancel my senior picture appointment twice and postpone several appointments to get my braces removed just because of the huge, ugly bruise! What a memory, huh? LOL!
My brother had to get his root canal done for almost same reason....he was hit by other baseball player really hard that he passed out...ouch!!
Our son, Phineas, will have his 5th birthday party next Thursday! Could not wait to see his face when he see the surprise (a bicycle with training wheels)!
Anyway, if you know of a natural way to heal a tiny cavity, please let me know! |

• Monday, August 20, 2007 - Home Sweet Texas!
We finally arrived in Dallas, Texas from Idaho on August 16 and are in Houston as of right now and then settle down in Austin in a couple of weeks. (More likely outside of Austin where it's quiet and a nice country view!) It's so good to be "home" again! I hope to see many old faces again soon! |

• Monday, July 9, 2007 - Guess what?
We are moving back to Texas on August 16! I grew up in Texas and then moved to Idaho two years ago. Israel lived in few different states but lived in Wyoming the longest. We bummed into each other in Austin, Texas and instantly fell in love with each other.
Anyway, we are really looking forward being in Texas in few weeks. My main reasons for wanting to go back to Texas: 1) Be near my family and friends 2) Wonderful Christian Homeschool group in Houston for our boys 3) Be involved in the deaf community in Houston. Israel's main reasons for moving back to Texas: 1) Be near his family and friends 2) Business development in Texas (www.EarthsOutlet.com) 3) Messanic Synagogue in Austin or Houston.
In Idaho, I could not find a good (or well developed) Christian Homeschool group in Twin Falls or Gooding areas. The deaf commmunity is very weak even though there is a deaf school in Gooding. Not only that, but also the people in general in the Gooding/Twin Falls areas are "different" than those in Texas. Texans are much more socialable and friendlier than those in Gooding. No offense. Just the fact (or maybe my opinion?). Israel and I got bored of Idaho FAST! (we just need a life!)
Idaho is a wonderful place for traveling! Mountain and everything is green up in the north part of Idaho. Beautiful too. Awesome creation by God! Down here in the south part is all right. There are some nice spots to visit such as the famous bridge in Twin Falls (jumpy or fly thingy whatever you call it). Many waterfalls to check out in the Twin Falls area, too. Just Google search! Oh, by the way, (south) Idaho is number 1 in United States for fire hazardous due to drought and heat.....eeek, that's where we live in! Thank God we survived even though we have seen some fires!
ahhh, i better get going so i can pack some more! the more i pack, the sooner we leave!?? ha!

• Sunday, May 27, 2007 - Make a list!
Last night I had a hard time deciding what to do today since I have so much to do this week. I kept changing my mind!! Then I had a great idea.....I cut the paper into small strips so I can write down one chore on the strip:
-Pull out the weeds
-Paint the third closet
-Fix up the bathroom downstairs
-Fix up the bathroom upstairs
-Remove the ugly carpet
-Sew the buttons back on my and Josiah's shirts
After writing down one chore on each strip, I folded the strips and put them in a small box for me to pick out one strip for Sunday. I was hoping that I wont pick "Pull out the weeds" for Sunday, but I DID! LOL! Anyway, that helps me not to make a final decision. Let the strips decide for me, hehe!
I pulled out the weeds even though I didnt want to for today! The yard is looking much better now. I'll let my husband do the rest!!!!
Dont ask me what is for Monday! I havent picked a strip yet. Here I go.....(picking one strip for tomorrow)...."Remove the ugly carpet"!!!!!! It is what I want to do for tomorrow. Yeehaw! I am tired of seeing this 1970's dark mustard color shaggy carpet upstairs! It's so ugly! Guess what's underneath the shaggy carpet??? Beautiful orginial wood floor from 1904!!! Oh yeah, we live in this old big house that was built in 1904. The carpet was not glued to the floor which is VERY helpful for me. I wont need to sand the floor!!! unless there are some bad scratches!? I dont care about the scratches as long as this yucky carpet is GONE!
Have a great Memorial's Day! |

• Sunday, May 20, 2007 - Josiah's 2nd Birthday Party!
We celebrated Josiah's second birthday this afternoon with his friends and Grandparents! He had a lot of fun even though he didnt know that he's supposed to open his own presents. His brother, Phineas, and other kids helped him open his birthday gifts! He didnt care much about the chocolate cupcake but he was really interested in the chocolate icing! The Carberry Clan is a chocolate freak!
Go to Photos to view the pictures.
Time goes by so fast! Josiah is already two! Oh boy....will he become a teenager when I blink my eyes right now? ha!
Thank God for Josiah's safe arrival on May 25, 2005. I had an emergency delivery with him. Only one and half hour of labor and delivery! Yes, that was fast comparing with Phineas for 4 hours. Josiah barely survived when he was low in oxgyen at birth! He had to stay in the hospital for 4 days which was not that bad. (Phineas had to stay in hospital for three long weeks!) |

• Saturday, May 12, 2007 - First Entry!
Welcome to my first blog! I thought it would be fun to post our latest news here for all of my long-distance family and friends to read. Notice the picture of the bluebonnets? It is to remind me of Texas where I grew up!
Things we are up to this month: Pull the ugly weeds out of our yard! (See the photo of our backyard!) You probably want to tell me "Just spray the yard with a weed killer! Save you time!" Our elder sweet neighbor came by yesterday and asked "What are you doing??? Pulling out the weeds?? Just spray them!!" I laughed softly, "No. I'd rather pull out the weeds than to harm my boys!" She nodded and replied, "Your right. I had our yard sprayed and all of the worms are dead!" The chemical can harm our children and pets, even shoo shoo away or kill the Earth's best friend, Worms.
Think Natural! Do the natural way! We will get an organic weed killer soon though.
Speaking of worms and the natural way, Israel and Mark are in progessing of developing this website: www.EarthsOutlet.com that they want to pursue their dreams. Many natural products will be sold through Earth's Outlet website such as worms, wormcastings, EM, natural skin lotions, and so much more! Interest in ordering worms, wormcastings, etc, email me at jen@earthsoutlet.com!
Come back for more latest news next week (probably next month though)!! |
