Confession: My child wears patched jeans...
So what is your favorite method of patching. I am a novice in this area. This is the first year my daughter consistently ripped out the jeans of all of her jeans. So off to the cloth/sewing section I go and I bring home iron on patches. I don't know of any other way.....
I buy our jeans 2nd hand - is there a way to reinforce the jeans?
We do homeschool - so she thankfully will not be subjecting to the jeering of her peers - she currently knows no other way - and proudly brags when we purchase something "new" from Goodwill! :0)

Because we buy second hand alot. I work on a few things before they begin. My daughter seemed to wear out crotch seams with her activeness, so I stitch a near the first line of tight stitces on pants before she wears them. On knees I use fuson with my own material behind them (the premade iron ons stand out too much) We often embrodiery or add iron on shapes or pictures to match to an ironed on shape on a tshirt. If jeans wear out, we make them into capris and use a 2" border of cotton to match to various tshirts and iron on a shape, letter or flower to match her bottoms on 2-3 shirts.
We reuse and need to do more!

Well one good thing is patched jeans are in style right now. I was in the store the other day and i about fell over when i saw jeans that looked worn out. Honestly they had holes in them... And they wanted over 50.00 for one pair... NOW mind you we patch these when they get to this point.. They are selling them like this now... I had to laugh.. I can buy a whole families worth of clothes for a year for less than this.. I save old pants and we make our own patches out of them. Just cut the size we need and then sew and dec with some dec thread..
god bless

My grandma used to patch my older brothers jeans and she always used to say it was easier sewing new legs than to patch them. LOL I don't have any words for advice for you, but wanted to wish you good luck on this dear.
God's Blessings,
Amy Jo
