$100 grocery month...

There are times in our lives where there is less $$ available than others.  We have very variable income, and generally not opulent - but sometimes there is more $$ than others.  This is not one of those months.  I'm thankful that the Lord extends our grocery dollars those months.  So far this month I am coming in at less than $100 (approx $75) for the month on groceries and that included the $50 meat stock up purchase posted previously.  Much of it has come from our pantry, frozen, and canned goods from summer.  And the kids are drinking store bought gall. of milk purchased on sale also.  But I will post most of what we've been eating this month:

eggs (free from my sister-in-law)

chicken patties

spaguetti/Green beans/applesauce (only the pasta is purchased-rest is homemade)

Roasted chicken in crockpot with potatoes & carrots & Pears  (pears home canned)

Tomatoe soup with cheese sanwhiches (only cheese is purchased - rest homemade)

Homemade pizza

Hot dogs

Taco Soup

Potato Soup

Pad Thai

Pork Loin with potatoes & carrots & Black Raspberry delight dessert (Valentine day special)

Ham (meat day special purchase $.69/lb if I remember correctly)

Bean Soup (made with leftover ham bone and ham) & homemade bread

Burgers & homemade fries

Brocolie Noodle cream soup

Shepherd's pie casserole (free meat from friend, mixed home frozen veggies, potatoes purchased in 100 lb bulk from local farm)

Pancakes

Egg Salad Sandwhiches

Roast and veggies (special)

Breakfasts were mostly a rotation of: Homemade granola, pancakes, homemade bread/toast.  Some cereal from the bargain grocery store - but maybe only the equiv. of 1 box of cereal eaten.  My husband is eating on a couple cases of cereal that I bought - maple shredded wheat (Kellogg's brand) for $.50 each bag/box equiv. that I stocked up on last fall - it will probably last him until spring.

That's pretty much what we've been eating over the last 4 1/2 week period that I kept track.  Months like this make me wonder why we can't do better more often.  No extra snacks have been purchased, canned peaches were the morning snack for the kids this morning, somedays I mix raisins, peanuts, and a couple choco chips for fun and they all munch on that during the morning school (and the 2 yr old during his little time ent. during school).

This is still so much better than what many have to eat in 3rd world countries - we are truly so blessed!!

blessings!
