I tried this recipe as an experiment one year. once I ran out, I didn't intend to make more. I pulled out Cambell's again, and found that it tasted quiet bland in comparison. My children prefer this also, this is from my sister-in-law:
Tomato Soup 1/2 bushel of tomatoes (8 3/4 juice) Cook 7 med onions (2 1/4 lb), 14 stems celery (1 bunch), & 14 sprigs parsely (3/4 c flakes) with small amount of water (3 cups). Put through the sieve (blend first). Add tomato juice, bring to a boil & add thickening. Mix in 2 1/2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, 5 T salt, 1 T pepper, add 2 cups melted butter (I omits this) 1/2 cup cold water to make thick batter. Add boiling water to thicker water. Add thickening & cook 30 min. Pour into hot jars & process. yields 20 pints. Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 68 of 83 } { Next Page } |
